Ok, went to discount tire to have my tires rotated this afternoon. They decided to rotate and balance (although balance was never mentioned). I have always made them put the weights on the back of the wheels only. Well they pounded weights on the front of 3 of the wheels and damaged the finish. They have a guy the deal with bringing 3 take offs that are supposed to be in perfect condition tomorrow. Is there any thing I can look for to make sure these are actually OEM GM wheels and not knockoffs? Also, if they have been refinished is there anything that I can look at to tell??
I am so pissed right now. More about the fact this is just going to waste a ton of my time and all I needed was my tires rotated.

What about just comparing them to your current wheels to make sure that they match them exactly?

Says GM with logo and something like made in Hungary stamped in the center of the wheel (center cap covers this part up).
No one makes knock-offs of PYO's that I'm aware of. I'm with Bud... make sure the finish matches the wheel you're going to be left with.
Sears screwed up a wheel on my 97 S-10 by dismounting the tire without pulling the weights off first. Spun the weight on the wheel and dug a gouge into the clear for 3/4 the circumfrence of the wheel. They had to buy a new 16X10 wheel from the dealer to the tune of $400 in that particular instance.

Well, the truck only has 13k and the wheels are perfect except for these scratches. The guy isn't going to buy new wheels (I pushed for it). Pointed out the wheels are perfect and only have 13k. That si why I told him I wasn't taking anything that wasn't perfect. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but the first guy kept trying to blow it off so I figured I needed to make it clear that I wasn't just going away.

Oh, I'm not. They have refinished 7 wheels on my other car and had to details the interior of my wife's car (long story). I have gotten 1 manager fired and another demoted.

And you still do business there?

I have had the same problem at all tire places. None of them pay attention or care. I have not had a problem there in a long time. I am very clear. Like I said, I stand in the shop and watch them do the work, but they insisted that their policy had changed.

I would take a dimplomatic approach and let him know how much biz you have and will continue to give him if they "make it right". What surprises me most is how different one location is to another in negotiating prices and trade in's, etc. I have called several stores or dropped in just to see who was willing to earn my business.
Good luck.

That is why I do business with a local shop. The service is usually better and the guy that I get my tires from beat Discount tire's price by over $250 for the tires in my signature.

It doesn't matter much in Houston. Most of the "local" shops are gone and the few left don't speak English. You can't find cheap labor that cares. I used to work in the car business and several friends do. No matter where you or who you deal with, there will be problems. This is why I just go watch them. Discount always works on me with price better than anyone else, but getting the guys back in the shop to care or pay attention will never happen.
