If yall were going to Line-x some H2'S wich would be better to start off with ,the chrome or the aluminum finish? Also, for those that have done this, how durable is the finish, i.e. when you have tires remounted?
thanks , Mox

Uh, they usually sandblast or abrade the finish before applying any of those coatings - so I suppose the aluminum would be better - it usually only has a clear coat over the metal. You don't want that stuff peeling off later from poor adhesion. Why not ask the Line-X dealer? I really like my Line-X bed, and found the shop very helpful.

Rhino Liner is about the same stuff. Any of them around?

You can buy that stuff in a can at most auto stores I thought and DIY it. You'd just have to get the wheel surface sand blasted.

Do you suppose it will affect getting a good balance out of the tire/wheel combo?

That's what I was going to ask. Seems like that stuff is heavy as all hell and getting it applied evenly enough not to cause balance problems (for something that's driven on the street- not just off road) seems like it would be an issue.
Also, if you coat the inside and outside of the wheel, how do you put weights on? Stick-on weights probably won't stay and if you use pound-on weights they'll take the coating off the edge of the wheel.
All that being said, I think it would look really good however.

LineX is lighter than Rino-lining. Im bout to do my bumpers n step bars on my Tahoe. LineX dealer said it will stick to anything but rust.
Oh yea dont buy the do it your self one, they suck.

i think it would throw the balance way out of wack ...and wouldnt be fun to balance ..

to get it balanced right you would have to go with the bb balancing method. basicly you put the amount of weight needed to balance the tire with normal weights, get airsoft bb's (there is a company that makes tiny plastic bb's designed for this) and pour them inside the tire. pretty common on tires over 35"
Sounds like balancing would be a pita, what about powder coating them? would that put a lot of material on the rim?

Now that's the ticket! That's what I was thinking in the spring, get a set of H2's, powder coat them, black powdered rims on a black truck..............tinted windows, etc. Yea!

Just rotate them at a fast speed when you spray them. It should coat evenly then. (this is 1/2 joke, 1/2 serious)
