I had a thought today about water/meth injection. Back in the old carburator days and with the fuels we used back then we would get carbon(?) buildup in the engines and used to blow it out from time to time. I had a Ford 6 cylinder engine that used to foul plugs on a regular basis. I would add water to the carbeurator which supposedly helped to break up the carbon deposits.

My question is with the EGR recirculating soot back through the combustion process, would WI have the same affect and help to remove soot buildup in the cylinder walls, on the injectors, etc.? Lower EGT's, better lubrication for the cylinders, more hp/tq, and a soot removal system? Too good to be true, be gentle! JJ :)

There is a product I found on the TDI site.........it is supposed to keep EGR buildup in check.......can't remember the name of it, it is a filter for the EGR.

It may be worth looking into.........

T:cool: NY

If not...........

Let me look for the actual post and see if I can get the product name and purchase location for it. Unless another member here knows where to get one..........

yes to a point, too much water will wash away cylinder lube. british diesels i ran years ago had boost fed jug that you put solution in and at full speed push button and would feed into inlet of turbo to wash dust/oil off, what made it past intercooler would clean turbine side, sooting up of turbine will reduce turbo speed and boost(large ship engine). look up water injection there is lots of info, keith
