AC compressor bearing out again- Can't afford a new one right now and was wondering if anyone has found or made a "bypass pulley" to sit in place of the Compressor. Thanks.

Is there a provision for a shorter belt maybe? Not knowing your belt routing, just wondering if that's a possiblity.

just get the belt for a non/ac truck. without seeing yours, most will just route around the a/c, I have seen a few that used an idler in place of it.

www.rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com/) has good prices.
$19.99 for a bearing kit and $99 for a rebuilt compressor.

Just to be curious, can an alternator be mounted in place of the compressor? If mine should fail, I'll probably want to drop the AC and put a second alternator in place instead.

I think if your truck is like my van, it has a provision for a second alterantor in the belt routing sticker under the hood. Of course, needs different belt.
