Today i derove my neighbors Dodge 1500 p/u 2wd ext cab

It had alot more get up and go than my 05' 2500HD 6.0 4x4.

I was kinda surprised that it would get up and go like that. I think it'll walk all over my truck. Even with my truck having 4.10 gears, and a flowmaster.

I think it's b/c I have 285 BFG's on it. What do you guys think. anybody drivin a dodge 1500 or even a chevy. I have drivin 1500 chevys that seemed to have alittle more balls than my 2500HD. Maybe it's just the weight of the truck.????

I have a few older C-20's and C-30's and you can pretty much floor em and they ain't goin nowhere in a hurry, but will pull a load like it isn't even back there. I guess the truck are designed for torque, not speed.

1500 2x4 vs. 2500 4x4??

You are probably an easy 1000# heavier (probably more) + the bigger tires are slowing you down alot, too.

big weight difference, a 6.0 in a similar truck will beat a hemi. my truck has 285s and they dont rob a whole lot of power.

Heck, a 4.3 S-10 will beat a 2500 6.0. Its all in the weight. Smaller is usually quicker and faster.

No way that will happen, unless the GM is a 1500 $$ GMC C3,or Chevy SS a 6.0 is 300hp in a HD pickup, a hemi is 345.1500 dodge is at least 500 lbs lighter than 2500 GM,did you think you'd even have a chance? The Dodge shoud run and hide from the HD w 6.0 .The new 352hp 6.0 HD barley nips out a 2500 hemi empty, only showing a real advantage loaded due to its 6 speed autos good gearing.

I personally owned a 05 hemi Crew cab 4x4 ram and a 2006 Chevy Silverao Vortec Max 4x4 with the high end 6.0 in it, not the same one found in the 2500. Stock on stock, the chevy dominated the ram. The ram had more bottom end grunt though, unlike the LSX gassers that are all top end.

In your case though, the ram, if a hemi, should win.

Ever hear of torque managment? It's part of the original program. Kinda slows you down off the line.

I forgot where I read it, but I just read an article where they felt that the Hemi actually had the worse low end to it compared to some of the other HD pickups out there.

You keep thinking that. There is a very good reason Gm "redesigned" the 6.0 liter gas engine for the 07 HD pickups, and added 52 hp,just enough to have more than the 5.7 Liter Chrysler Hemi, because the Hemi was kicking its butt in horsepower, and horsepower sells trucks. BTW, the Hemi is getting a redesign too,and is rumored to be 381 HP in 5.7 liter form when it debuts in the 09 1500 pickup this fall. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/new-mopar-hemi.html So you gotta look out for the current hemi, and the new upcoming hemi,as well as the redsigned 4.7 small v8 http://www.allpar.com/mopar/47.html that will blow you into the next county as well.

I never had a problem putting down any dodge truck.... or another GM yet...

I have a stock 07 classic 2500 HD ext cab longbed 4x4 5 Speed, So far I have raced my friends duramax, several dodges of all kinds and a powerstroke, havent lost yet, by a long shot.... My friend had a 4.7, it was a turd.... sold it for a 2500hd duramax/allison

I thought the thing hurting the Chevy's on the new ones is that 4 second delay before it truly goes WOT. The hemi is a decent engine and I could see it beating a 2500 pretty easily. Hemi's are the second or third fastest 1/2 ton truck I believe, right behind the Tundra and Titan. The Titan vs. Hemi is pretty much a drivers race.

The Hemi is an over rated engine in my opinion. A buddy of mine took me for a drive in his 2500HD Ram with the Hemi and in my opinion I think the 6.0 Vortec feels stronger. Do not get me wrong, the Hemi felt like a nice engine, but it was not very impressive for the amount of hype it was receiving.

Yea the torque management gets in my way all of the time, I can't even do a dry burn out
