: The truth about the TTS triple disc and slick roads...
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 05:46 PM After hearing about and being asked about how the TTS triple is on slick roads, I though I'd post my experience. Today was the first time the roads have had snow and ice on them since getting the tranny done and it doesn't seem any different to me. Why people say it'll make you slide at stops is beyond me...I've had no problems...
IMO this is a great product, one of the best things I've ever bought, hats off to Steve Cole and all those who helped develop and test it...

now if I punch it on slick roads watch out
so far I am extremly happy with this convertor, can' t wait to get some E.T's
moss022 01-06-2005, 06:27 PM i have slid with my stock tranny. it happens when coming to the stop! from the down shifting. it makes the back tires turn slower than you are going, so it makes the rear a little squirrelly. the reason I say you will slide more in a built tranny is because the down shifts are much more firmer, at least in my truck.
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 06:49 PM That's wierd, I run in T/H most the time when it's slick out because it down shifts...

moss022 01-06-2005, 06:59 PM i am just stating whats happened to me not in t/h
Bronco 01-06-2005, 08:19 PM I think the big contreversy was right at the point of stopping. You are on ice and rolling up very slow. With your foot on the brake, will the rear tires attempt to push you past the stop sign. I have been in older cars with goofy transmissions and it was mandatory to throw the gear selector into neutral to avoid sliding out into the intersection.
According to Blueox03 he has no such problems. That is good news.

since we have had nothing but sh%* weather here since I got mine installed I would say no it won't push you. I can remember that happening to me numerous times but every vechicle I was in when that would happen had rear drum brakes.
Scotty Seelen 01-07-2005, 04:43 PM bigd,
Did you run the 14.3 with the Suncoast III with your 6-gun, or was the tranny stock?
SpoolinTurbo 01-07-2005, 05:01 PM I've driven in all sorts of ice/sleet/snow and have never had any creep at a stopsign other than what I induced on my own.
Recommendation, pull seat adjustment lever up, scoot closer, press pedal further to floor. If'n your brakes aren't holding your vehicle stopped... you need new brakes.

Denial 01-07-2005, 05:38 PM Seelen, did I see your name in the letters to the editor in Car and Driver this month? Something about Banks 6gun?
moss022 01-07-2005, 05:50 PM once stopped, stays stopped. but not sure on what converter i have, its from quadzilla but cant pinpoint which one it is.
dpfcummins 01-07-2005, 07:13 PM If the convertor is soo tight that you have to hold the brake harder to keep the truck in one place, then its not going to be a good combination when people get around to adding larger turbos. Its going to take some rpm's to spool up the turbos that are coming out. Matt
BlueOx03 01-07-2005, 07:34 PM Doesn't seem like I gotta hold the brake harder...just hold it a little...

dpfcummins 01-07-2005, 08:47 PM So what is the stall speed of a TTS convertor?
Diesel Power 01-07-2005, 08:54 PM I don't have to hold the brake any harder...
Mike L. 01-07-2005, 11:01 PM Torque converters at a standstill are always at an idle mode( uncoupled). Some coverters will creep more than others( lifting off brake pedal) but they are not capable of pushing a vehichle without throttle. Some old lady here made this up. Fess up.):h

diesel777 01-13-2005, 08:52 PM its been raining alot hear in vegas and i have not had any problems with my tts t/c pushing at a stop or making me slide. i love the fact i can set my pred at 120 and punch it without a limp. ):h
dmaxalliTech 01-13-2005, 11:11 PM I noticed tonite that my truck would push on the ice, I think its the exhaust though.

You need to explane this one to me bro.:) Patiently waiting for technical info.
dmaxalliTech 01-13-2005, 11:22 PM My pipe is so big that it was actin like a jet engine and pushing me forward in kind of a turbo thingy... I noticed that depending on where my tailpipe pointed, it would change the direction of travel too
