I like it! After three hundred miles of driving (200 hwy and 100 city) I have to say that I'm impressed with the LLY and VNT so far. The turbo is very responsive as is the pedal. During stop and go traffic the truck actually lurches every time I hit the pedal to go, it's that responsive. It's far more responsive than my LB7 was at stock. I'm very curious to see how it performs against my dad's 05 CC Ford 6.0L overall and for responsiveness. We're going to make a couple runs this weekend if the roads will dry up.

Walked out today after going in the bank and the engine still wasn't up to temp so the high idle had engaged... I knew it was my truck as soon as I walked out the door! Sounded like a jet! It wasn't terribly loud but the whistle was definitely noticeable over the main street traffic. Can't wait to hear it with the intake and exhaust.

Interior hasn't changed a lot, but we knew that.... Plenty of little changes but nothing that really made me say wow.

Gonna start the mods this weekend!

If you plan on running a straight thru exhaust minus the cat it really sounds wicked. The other day I went thru town and got stopped at a light right before it opens up into two lanes. There are buildings and a side walk close by and everybody was outside soaking up some rare winter sun at lunch time. I had the edge and pup stacked....when the light turned green I flogged it and I looked back to see a lady thru the smoke with her ears covered....opps!!):h

Hope you don't have a Navy and a NRA decal in you back window. You'll give us a bad rep.

Uhhh, you leave your truck running? I just read the 'stolen in Mexico' thread. Aren't you worried? Or have I been living in Calif. too long? (living in Ca., there's an oxymoron...)

Don't worry my 05 chevy will out run my 05 ford 6.0 any day of the week.

That's what I like to hear! I'm definitely ready for the race.

And yes, I leave my truck running locally if I'm not going to be out of it more than 2 or 3 minutes... I live in a small town of about 10,000. Most people leave them running and I don't know of a stolen vehicle in the last 5 years. I'll start locking it as soon as the Astrostart is installed (this weekend I hope).

I don't leave it running ANYWHERE other than the bank and post office because I'm in and out in a minute or two at the most. In fact, our employees often give me crap for locking it in the parking lot of our business, but I lock it anytime I won't be getting right back in it. Kinda odd now that I think about it...

Good luck on your race! My experience is that the 6.0 is pretty damn close to the LLY, I’ve run my friend in his 6.0 several times and honestly it’s whoever has the hole shot wins the ¼. If he gets me out of the hole I’m usually right on his A** at the ¼ (we’re talking I’m right at his door), if I get out of the hole first I usually beat him by a truck length or better. If we ran a ½ mile I’m sure the DMAX would smoke the 6.0. Just my opinion from driving his truck, they are damn near the same off the line the DMAX just pulls harder through mid RPM ranges than the 6.0 does. We’ve tried boosted launches as well as launching from idle with the same result, my .02 make sure you beat him out of the hole!!!

Get 10K on your new lly and it will run even stronger. I just took my 04 lly back to the dealer with 8000 miles on it and got my brand new 05. The 05 seems slower but not by much. I think these things break in gradually over 4-5k and then run where they are strongest. Dealer told my not to chip it until it has at least 5k. Get that, the Dealer told I could chip and if I need repairs bring it in. Think fords gonna do that? You need a chip to even make the 6.0 run, and then it destroys the tranny and they can detect it and won't touch it. Exford man new GM man.

BTW the LLY running the 40HP Predator tune SMOKES the crap out of the PSD 6.0 with the same Predator 40HP tune! Night and day difference, right off the line just powered right by my bud with his 6.0 he didn't have a chance :D

The Predator Rocks!!!

MY LLY will not beat my buds 6.0, stock or chipped. Edge on the 6.0, Van Aaken or Quad module on mine. The Ford also outpulls my truck.

ET slips don't lie

Sad but true! (for now)

We'll see... In riding in his and mine, I think it'll be a close match. He's doesn't feel as snappy off at the punch, but it'll be fun. As for chipped, the Ford has the edge for now with more time developing the software than the LLY. That's about to change though.

I think the 6.0 will outrun the LLY when both chipped with the Edge at least it will down the highway. About 6 months ago i got outran by a 6.0 with an Edge chip and exhaust from a 70mph roll ! 70-72 mph is the worst spot for me to nail the gas as it wont kick down and then starts to defuel when trans slippage occurs. Im sure i could of give him a better run from a dead start but it sucked getting my arse handed to me like that! I would like a re-match though . I have installed many chips in the 6.0s and they pull like a freight train out the back door unlike the LLY when it cuts back power and has less to begin with in 5th gear than 2-4th ! Would like to take both to the track as that would tell the tale !

No chips involved in this race.

I also wanted to comment that the LLY engine is definitely quieter. I would say it's the quietest engine of the big three. This may account for the increased turbo whine that I notice just because I can hear it more over the engine. I had a pretty good amount of turbo whine on my LB7 when I let it go though.

The in cab noise on the LLY also seems to have increased. For some reason I hear the road more. I wonder to if this is related to a quieter engine. None of this will matter when the sound deadening material goes in.

I'm still getting used to the tranmsission "improvements." The truck seems to shift much slower than even my stock LB7. I'm definitely used to a fast shifting Suncoast Allison, but I don't think my stock Allison in the LB7 shifted this slow. In skimming through some of the documents on the Allison in this truck, it appears that some changes were made which would cause this type of shifting in cold weather. I unfortunately won't be able to compare it when it gets warm as I'll have a different Allison in it in just a couple weeks.

The engine is still getting broke in but I was able to break the tiny stock tires loose on wet pavement from a stand still. Nothing impressive, but it shows the power is there. There is good solid power all the way to the speed limiter, except for during the shift points right now.

Anyway, still getting used to it. So far I really like the truck and although I miss the power, I hope this one will be able to keep up by the time I can use the power for smoking some locals again.

A suncoast goes a long way towards really making the edge worth anything in the higher levels. The 6.0 has no tranny protection at all I do beleive....which is a good and a very bad thing all rolled into one. That is the advantage of the stock 6.0 tranny....how long it will last I don't know much about them....anybody in the know?
