have a problem with the primer pump and dealer says $600. so i fiquire now is maybe good time to put in different filter/pump option, whats available?

Try venting by operating hand pump until hard, (with vent closed), then crack vent to release air, close vent, and repeat until primed.

I put a Caterpillar filter base and primer pump off a 3304/3306 engine in-line AFTER my stock filter. It uses the same filter element as the Nictane setup. Initially thought about replacing the stock unit, but decided to keep it and just add the finer grade filter and better primer pump to what I already had.
