I have an 03 work truck that didn't come with an overhead console. Does anyone know if all the wiring for the map lights and such are up there ready to just plug in if I buy one? Also, do I have to cut the headliner to make the new console fit? Any help is appreciated.

no clue on the wiring but you have to cut to places for the tabs and one little hole for the screw

Ok, I did this a few months ago. Do you have a compass/temp mirror? If not, you do NOT have any wiring for the lights, if you do the wiring will be there. Don't qoute me on it GM has suprised me before.
You will need to cut the headliner to mount the console. You will have to fab up a mount for the screw at the front of the console. The trucks that have a console OEM have the mount built into the headliner.
As for wiring, I purchased a used unit of ebay(23 bucks) with 1/2 of the oem harness. I found a turn on lead and a ground at the fuse block under the dash.
Cheers, Chris.
damn, no compass/temp mirror, so I guess i'm screwed.

No, you just need to wire it your self. 4 female connectors, 6 feet of wire and some time. It took me about 1/2 an hour to complete mine. And half of that time I was trying to build up the courage to cut a hole in my brand new headliner.

My truck did not have the compass mirror but the wiring was still installed and taped to the head liner. I just tapped my lights into te suppied wire. The only difference is that my lights do not come on with the door open or the key off. When cutting the hole start small the console will cover a bunch. Like heavy chevy said you will have to fabricate the front screw mount. Just pull down the head liner and see if the wires are there.

Same for me on the wiring for the miror. Check if you have the ambient temp sensor wiring on the left side of your rad support. If its there you have everything, if not you just have the mirror pre-wire.
