Well I may have a solution to my dilema on high mileage d/a. An Extended warranty! But does this excerpt sound like it covers injectors?

“WHAT IS COVERED"
***Premium 2000 Plus***
Engine: All internally lubricated parts of engine, includes pistons, piston rings, piston pins, crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshaft and camshaft bearings, timing chain, timing gears, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, guides, oil pump, push rods, rocker arms, hydraulic lifters and rocker arm shafts. The Engine Block and Cylinder Heads are also covered if mechanical failure was caused by the above-listed parts. (Does not include any other part other than what is supplied in the Long Block Assembly.)

I think not, but what do you guys think? Are the injectors part of the "long block assembly"?

Most extended service contracts will only go to 100K, they get REAL expensive after that, and few are worth the money, they always have a way to get out of coverage.

Ah max, I knew i could count on ya! Pricing as follows from "auto advantage inc" don't know anything about them except they are my "test case" to see if I could even get coverage on that truck with 217000 miles on it.

2 yrs/30k $979
3 yrs/50k $1049
5 yrs/100k $1195

I would do some more homework and shop around some, but real question is are they hip to the injector problem and is that clause worded just to avoid a payout for injectors?

Most service contracts are worded to avoid covering anything. That simple. We deal with them every day and 90% of the claims get rejected for one reason or another. Then it is our job to tell the customer that the service contrct that they paid 3K for only covers one $70 part, but there is a $100 deductable. I have worked here for 9 years now and I cannot think of one instance where a service contract paid for itself.

Injectors and other fuel stuff are covered under the emmissions warranty for a long time from the factory. You tech guys would know the limits in your own country, right? Thanx Geo.

That's new to me.

Thanks to all. Mr. Moses of Autoadvantage informs me that the injectors are NOT covered under this "power train warranty" (all thats avaiable for a high mile diesel) So even if the engine self destructs I would need to purchase new injectors, great deal eh?

Injectors and fuel pump (because the regulator is attached to it) are covered under emmision warranty in Canada. Other things too. Read your manual, that's the best thing, because the dealer won,t. Thanx Geo.

Firstruck, which one of the trucks you asked MaxP about did you buy? -- there were so many! The 01-02's are covered 7 yr 200k on injectors. There have been posts about extended factory warranties for good prices...

here's one: http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20154&highlight=GMPP

And another: http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12167&highlight=GMPP

still another: http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11612&highlight=GMPP

BTW, I'm not a tech, just trying to help out......
