Has anyone else had repeated failure of your isspro 1500 degree egt guage?

I am now in installing #3.

For some reason they seem to fail quickly. They have seemed to last about 30,000 miles and go kaput.

The last one that I replaced we have no idea what failed, we just installed a new one. Now the new one is crap.

Is there anyway to test these things?

Is there maybe a better guage setup?

The problem I believe is in the probe part of the guage. But that is just a guess.

Do these things carbon up?

It is installed just like kennedy shows on his tech tips.

Just curious if anybody else had problems?

Thanks!

I should have that many miles on mine seem's to be working fine, Is it the gauge itself or the coupler in the manifold, the box?? jut wondering if you have narrowed it down..

Only had mine for a few months, but so far no problems..:D

Followed the instructions from Dieselmanor. What exactly is causing yours to go bad..?

Odd. I have replaced a few pyrometers. My Isspro's have never let me down.

The original I bought in 2002 is still working to this day. And on the original probe too!

1st gauge for me and so far its been great, no problems at all. Its got about 10k on it and nothing yet. Are you going through the same dealer for the gauges? It might be them and not the gauge itself. Just a thought, try buying from a different place.

you have changed gauges, but what about the signal conditioning box?

I have heard that the odd one can be 'flaky' Have you replaced that? Or just the gauge?

Sorry for the confusion.

I ordered all new parts from John. I installed just the probe, that did not work.

Then I installed just the control box, that didin't work, then I changed the gauge and that didn't work either.

Then john sent me another complete kit, I changed out the entire system, then it worked.

Now, it is doing it again, the gauge doesn't read any temp going down the road, but the moment I touch the throttle, it pegs out to 1500.

The first setup worked for 50,000 miles now these last two only lasted 30,000 miles.

It could be wiring. I'm taking it to our mechanic on Monday. He'll comb over it then.

I was just curious how complicated these wiring systems are?

Could it just be a bad ground?

Thanks for the help.

What do you mean by "odd" one?

What do you mean by "odd" one?

In 7 years, I have only ever heard of 3 going bad. And that was from a few vendors. PDR had 2 that ever failed, and Harbour City Diesel.

That's it.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on.

I don't know where the ground is either.

I just drove the truck an hour ago, and it seems to want to sit around 300 degrees at idle, and like I said, the moment you touch the throttle, whammo 1500 degrees.

The thing wants to stay at 1500 until I let off of the throttle completely. Then It will stay at around 300-600. When I even think about the throttle, back to 1500.

Pretty weird.:o:
