That is a small light with a cord. Its to provides light if your on the side of the road with engine problems. Its pretty cool actually, if you crank it out you can remove the light and cord and see around the engine if its dark.

You probably need to clean off the bulb.

I had a truck with the crank light once. Can't remember which one it was, but it was pretty cool. It would reach almost to the back tires IIRC. My wife came outside one night and I was half way into the front yard lookin' at bugs in the night, lol.:D

Yeah, my 92 gasser had one on it. Kinda thought it was standard equipment, cause it had the hood light also. Wish I knew it wasn't, otherwise I'd have swiped it from the gasser to put it in the rattler.

Oh how old becomes new again, was std equipment for the 90's I have one in my 90 GMC C1500, should be still a feature on all vehicles IMO, seems like whenever you need a trouble light on the road yours is someplace else, these were always there,

My '93 1500 gasser has one, but the '93 3500 6.5 does not. Must have been included in some option package. It worked pretty well, if i could keep it halfway clean. lol
