: Exhaust tip Question
skoryaro2 01-06-2005, 11:46 AM Soon I will be getting my Predator and an EGT gauge. I'm not interested in changing the entire exhaust (one reason is I tow very light and infrequently - another is $$ :)) but I would like a little different sound out of the exhaust, if possible.
Would just replacing the exhaust tip do anything for me?
Thanks!
Rob
9W3-HD 01-06-2005, 12:00 PM doubtful, I know removing the muffler and replacing it with a strait pipe doesnt do much at all for sound, the kitty is the sound killer.
HD-Nate 01-06-2005, 12:19 PM Coming Soon: Juice / Attitude or DiabloSport Predator
If your getting this you will need the 4 inch anyway, so get it now.

Yea - that's what I thought. Was trying to avoid going that route for now. You never know unless you ask though!

I disagree - I know alot of guys running around with the Predator on the 65 tune with stock exhaust and not having EGT problems
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 12:40 PM Why not just change the exhaust? They've really come down in price and will give you nice sound, lower EGTs and quiker spool up. as far as just changing the tip goes, it will change the sound and that's it...I've change my tip a few times...
skoryaro2 01-06-2005, 12:53 PM BlueOx03,
Thanks for the info. Just looking to change the sound a little. Why not change the exhaust now - you ask??? I still get the "Look" from the Little Mrs.. You know which one - the........"you just bought a new truck, went over budget on that and are buying gauges and a programmer and I want to finish off the basement" look! :)
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 12:58 PM Yeah I know what you mean, just get her some stuff or do some stuff to the house, whatever makes her happy...meanwhile save the money to get a complete system...I had the inexpensive Summit one for three bills delivered, I only took it off for the duals and my old system is on another truck and still looking good...

BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 12:59 PM She's really gonna $hit when you want a tranny...
Aron420 01-06-2005, 01:01 PM just straight pipe it, you will NOT be disapointed and its cheep. And for the nice aftermarket look just pick up a 4" flow master tip and weld that on. Thats what i did, sounds great, looks great, and most important performs great.
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 01:03 PM Stait pipe is good for some, I recommend hearing it first though...too raspy for me...

skoryaro2 01-06-2005, 01:05 PM I've got the tranny one figured out already. Get the Predator, use it until the truck gets out of warranty. Toast the tranny with the Predator. Tell her tranny went, no warranty, must pay for it - Whallla! Suncoast!
In reality - if I asked she'd probably get it for my birthday :)

WHAT A WOMAN! ):h
Skoryaro...Since the straight pipe sound isn't for you, give Idle Chatter (Tom) a shout. He retrofit a 4" straight-thru muffler into his stock system for cheap. Sounds good, too.
Hey...If you don't mind me askin'....where in the thumb are you?

Ricmond area (more like the lower-thumb :) )
Jim659 01-06-2005, 04:58 PM My straight pipe lasted all of one day. A good 4" exaust is pretty inexpensive and worth the money when you start adding power.
HD-Nate 01-07-2005, 10:53 AM I disagree - I know alot of guys running around with the Predator on the 65 tune with stock exhaust and not having EGT problems
At 65 you may not have a problem. Thats why I put the Edge/Attitude in bold. With 100+ added hp you may run into problems.
Even the chip manfs recommend a 4 inch.
I've heard a few straight pipe DMax's and was not impressed, very raspy/flutter sounding. The 4 inch was better but I really did no achieve the sound I was after until a put a 24"x5" tip on the end of it. Now it has a deep roar like I wanted.
