: 07 Chevy (New Model)...seat belt sound
ducmons 01-19-2008, 07:19 PM Hey gang,
I bought my father in a law an 07 Truck, hopefully to help him preserve his health. He was driving a 6.2 Chevy Diesel, and it was beating him up, so I bought him a new gasser, then bought his old diesel from him so he wouldn't sell it. He can still use it for his work on a farm as a care taker.
Anyway..... to the point of my thread. He never wears his seat belt around the property, but the dang beep drives him up the wall. How can I unhook the sound?
elk hunter tom 01-19-2008, 07:47 PM nope, i tried it disables the whole truck, is what he can do is latch the seatbelt around the seat before he gets in
Rttoys 01-19-2008, 08:21 PM Some can be done with a Tech2. Don't know about the NBS '07, though.
fisherman6.0 01-20-2008, 10:23 AM Of course I wouldn't recommend this for driving on the road, but can't you just connect the center belt to the driver side to trick the truck into thinking it is connected?
ducmons 01-20-2008, 04:10 PM I may just find something to latch in there for farm driving. Of course when on any public roads, he wears his seatbelt, but for driving 1-2 miles around the farm, the beeping sound bothers even me.
dfnlkn 01-25-2008, 11:21 AM Not sure if it would work for newer vehicles, but the other day I had to replace the part of the seat belt that mounts to the floor on an early 90's Oldsmobile and the replacement part did not have the wires for the sensor. So I had to cut the wires. Needless to say the car thinks that the occupant is belted all the time. Try disconnecting the wires underneath the seat, at worst it would say you are unbelted all the time and you can always reconnect the connector.
D-MAXDUALLY 01-26-2008, 03:30 AM All you have to do is unplug the wires going to the latch itself real easy it hasn't gave me any problems
07DuramaxHD 01-26-2008, 11:52 AM I'm assuming that if you unplug the wires itself you still get the light in the dash blinking in your face right?

No because unplugging the wires under the seat makes the computer thinkg the seatbelt is latched, which is why the chime goes away.
Duromax04 01-27-2008, 02:34 AM Good info, now if I could just get the doors to stop locking everytime I put it in gear, I would be really happy. I hate that.

I haven't tried that yet. He lives about 4hr away, so figured I'd check as much info as possible before I dove in.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that they are unable to override the automatic door locking feature. In prior model years, customers were able to select "Doors Lock Manually" from the DIC. However, starting in the 2005 model year, this selection was removed.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Since the 2005 model year, all BCM's (Body Control Modules) are programmed from the factory to allow two personalized door lock settings:
Setting 1: All doors lock when the transmission is shifted into gear.
Setting 2: All doors lock when the vehicle speed is greater than 8 mph (13 km/h).
New BCM calibrations have been released for the 2006 and 2007 model years to allow a Setting 3: No Automatic door locking (Manual). This setting should ONLY be turned on at the owner's request. At this time there is NO new calibration available for the 2005 models or vehicles with manual transmissions. Use one of the following procedures below to disable the auto door lock feature.
Use the following procedure to turn on this feature for models:
2006 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, Suburban, Tahoe
2006-2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic
2006-2007 GMC Sierra Classic
2006 GMC Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL
Reprogram the BCM with updated calibrations currently available in Tis2Web. When at the "Calibration Selection" screen in Tis2Web select the "locking" tab and pick the calibration listed "auto door lock option enabled on dic".
On vehicles with Steering Wheel Controls (RPO UK3) use the controls to scroll through the personalization setting to the "Auto Door Lock" feature. There will be a new "Manual" selection now available to choose, along with the two previous selections "In Gear" and "With Speed".
On vehicles Without a Steering Wheel Controls (RPO UK3) use the owners manual to enter the door lock programming mode in section
Once in the programming mode press the lock side of the drivers power door lock switch, you will hear either one, two or NO chimes. One chime indicates you are in Setting 1 (lock in gear), Two chimes you are in Setting 2 (lock with speed) and NO chimes you are in Setting 3 (Manual). Continue to press the door lock switch to scroll through the 3 different selections until you hear the desired setting and then exit the programming mode by turning the ignition key on.
Use the following procedure to turn on this feature for models:
2007 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2007 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL
Reprogram the BCM with updated calibrations currently available in Tis2Web. When at the "Calibration Selection" screen in Tis2Web select the "locking" tab and pick the calibration listed "auto door lock option enabled on dic".
On vehicles equipped with steering wheel controls (RPO UK3) DIC (Driver Information Center) control buttons are included. Use the DIC buttons to scroll through the personalization settings to the "Auto Door Lock" feature. There will be to two different settings: "Lock with speed" or "Lock in gear". You will notice there is NO new setting but also there will be no "check marks" next to any of the settings. This means the auto door lock feature is disabled. If there is a "check mark" next to one of the "Auto Door Lock" selections then the only way to remove the "check mark" is to scroll to "Factory Settings" and select "Restore", this will remove the "check mark" thus disabling the "Auto Door Lock" feature.
Note: Please keep in mind that if "Factory Settings Restored" is selected it will change all of the other personalization settings back to the factory settings and they will need to be reset back to the owners settings.
On vehicles without the DIC control buttons once the BCM is reprogrammed with the new calibration the "Auto Door Locks" will be disabled and can not be turned back on unless the BCM is reprogrammed back with the previous calibration.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
