In the owner's manual I noticed that GM offers a service manual for $120. Is it bound in a fancy leather binder with my initials in goldleaf ??? Or five times more info than a Haynes or Chilton?? I have used both Haynes and Chilton in the past and found them to be more than helpful.
Is the GM manual worth the extra dough??
TIA,
Doug

Just to give you an idea. The Helms Service manual for the Silverado/Sierra is FIVE volumes, each about two inches thick, printed on 'bible' paper. So I'd agree with jholly, only say it's probably much MORE than five times the info in a Chilton's or Haynes.
It is worth the dough if you want it, just like anything else.

I havent seen any on there yet for the D Max, but I got a the 4 volume set from GM/Helms for my 98 Tahoe on EBay for a little over 50 bucks and a set for my 84 Vette for $30 and change. They are worth the money over the other ones in my opinion and are the same manuals that the Techs use at the dealerships.
