: Dodge Cummins with Allison Tranny INSIDE
Brayden 01-05-2005, 11:55 PM I don't know how this happened, but this dodge must have snuck in the assembly line at the GM plant. It's got a 1000 series in it !!
I'll have more details later. The truck is a 95 Dodge 2500 EC 4x4. I'll switch the Allison over to 4x4 here in the coming weeks. I might just run it 2wd with a divorced NP205 T-case. This would be easier, but :) easy isn't always the best route.
Tell me what you think.
I'll have more pics on my website at www.fleeceperformanceengineering.com (http://www.fleeceperformanceengineering.com) soon.
Thanks,
Brayden Fleece
Brayden 01-05-2005, 11:59 PM Here are some more pics.
Enjoy,
Brayden
I think you got control issues.
coyotekid 01-06-2005, 12:08 AM So...
You've got a Cummins, an Allison, and the Dodge that came with the Cummins. I guess 2 outta 3 really ain't that bad, but I'm no statistician.):h
Just kiddin, you may be on your way to a potent combo there!
How are you gonna communicate with the ally?
nosliw 01-06-2005, 12:12 AM that's one of the things i like about the cummins, you can see the turbo. it's sitting right there free of obstruction.....
now, put that drivetrain in an '85 or '86 ford F250 body, you'd have a pretty kickass pickup.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 12:17 AM Hoot... I've got total control. The allison TCM isn't magic. Just give it the vital info it needs and it does the rest. No CAN, No J1850. My other truck, an S10 ZR2 is the same setup, just on an ISB.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 12:19 AM Since I'm trying to make a business out of this, I'm not going to go into much detail, but I have explained it all before. This truck and my ZR2 with the ISB will both be at Muncie this year, and I'll let a few people crawl underneath.
Burnin Mad Max 01-06-2005, 01:16 AM Man I didn't believe it was a Dodge until I saw all the rust... ):h Just kidding. What I'd rather have seen would have been a GM truck and Allison with a Cummins under the hood now that would peak my interest. I love my Duramax, but during the 6.2 and 6.5 years I drooled over the Hummin Cummins. Interesting mod for certain.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 01:25 AM I'm working on the Chevy with the cummins and allison as we speak. I can also do a ford with cummins and allison or powerstroke and allison or pretty much whatever somebody wants.
Got Juice? 01-06-2005, 02:05 AM Braydon.... IIRC I say your truck at PDR
Allison MT Series 4 Speed automatic right?
Damn Truck Rocks Guys.... 37" Tires can be spun at will.... indefinately.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 02:14 AM No.. My truck is a black S10 ZR2. Never been up to Piers, but would like to see the shop someday. I'm running an Allison 1000 series. An MT is bigger than a 1000 series. An AT is smaller though, and is 4 speeds.
Burner 01-06-2005, 03:21 AM WOW! I think you have something there. If you could get a Gen III Dodge with an Allison.............Holly smokes! That would be one mean set-up!
Heck, you just might become a vendor on here really quick. ;)
Keep the post comming. This should be great for everyone.
...... eh, is that a SunCoast upgrade trans or just a standard 1,000? ):h
Burner-------------------------> :D
BlueOx03 01-06-2005, 12:26 PM Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a GMC? Then you get the tranny, a better truck and a better engine...
Ox
Nic fab work ! but I would rather have an SFA in my GMC, Dodges trucks are lacking.....
Got Juice? 01-06-2005, 01:16 PM Check This one out!

Brayden 01-06-2005, 01:40 PM It's a bone stock Allison 1000 series.
For what it's worth, I have an 04 2500HD with the Duramax LLY & Allison, and I love the truck, don't get me wrong, but it is seriously lacking in the torque dept. I have the dyno sheets to prove it. On the juice & without. Peak torque arrived at 2700 rpms. I had only 211 lb/ft at 2000 rpms. WITH LVL 5 JUICE
I'm not bashing my duramax since I just ordered another.. (2005 dually D/A CC 4x4) But this Cummins Allison combo really does a great job. The dodge trucks are a bit lacking in the style dept, but they are well built solid axle trucks with a great engine, and now they can have a great tranny too.
And yes I can put one in the 98.5-02 ISB equipped Dodge pickups as well. They perform even better in this app. I am working on the electronics for the ISBe HPCR motors as well.
Thanks for the compliments, and critisism.
PS, I can do a solid axle conversion in a GM also, and put a cummins in front of the allison if you want. Sky is the limit.. Money too, but hey :)
Burner 01-06-2005, 02:25 PM ..... you mean 711 ft lbs?
Brayden 01-06-2005, 02:28 PM No... I'll Scan you the dyno sheet if you want it. 211 at 2000
Then it peaked at 686 tq @ 2750 rpm..
All on a dirty fuel filter and stock airbox. But still that's nothing to write home about. The LLY's are dogs out of the hole.
Burner 01-06-2005, 02:35 PM Censoredt that's just not right. ............. Where's Kennedy? I think John could throw some light on that.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 02:37 PM We can start a new topic on how my Duramax has no torque down low.. but back to the topic please..
I'm scanning the dyno sheets burner.. I'll have them up in a few seconds in the LLY forum..
BigWill_21 01-06-2005, 03:32 PM ALLISONS come in Dodges and Fords already..
The Jerr-Dan dealer in Clayton, NC has several 2004 Dodge Rollbacks and Wreckers with Allison 1000 and 2000's.. They also have several Fords with Cummins in them and Allison's!!!
Pretty cool that your doing your own swap though!!!
BIG:ro)
Brayden 01-06-2005, 04:08 PM You can't go out and order or buy a dodge 1 ton or ford F550 and below with an allison. GM will not sell them to any other OEM's in the light truck market. Jerr dan may be offering them since they are an OEM chassis/cab style builder. Let's see a pic from underneath. You'd be amazed at how many people think that their F450 & 550's have Allison's in them since the owners manual says something about an Allison. The 650's can have Allison's and they are the same owner's manual as the lower models.
Snap a pic for me would ya.. Not calling you a liar, but would like to see it.
BTW Thanks for the :ro)

Is that the place?
BigWill_21 01-06-2005, 07:23 PM yea, thats it but the site isn't showing any of those up their right now..
Believe me I have seen a Cummins and with an Allison behind it in person as well as a Ford with an Allison... I have crawled under and looked mysef...
Thats the place we got our last Rollback from it was a 7.3 Superduty and thats when I learned they offered Allisons, but that was a while back...
I think they actually had like 2003 or 2004 Ford with a Cummins and Allison in it at one time.. Pretty cool!!!
They have alot in stock but they aren't showign alot on the site...
BIG
EDIT: I have had alot of peopel not believe me It doesn't bother me!!! I can't just snap a picture the place is about 1 hr. and 15 minutes from me...
BIG DIPPER 01-06-2005, 08:05 PM I have a bit of info.....when Chrysler was in negotiations with Allison on supplying them with trannies for the 2500/3500 series pick ups (model year 2004 or so, may have been 2003).....there were a few built with the Allison 1000 in them. The deal fell through and that's when all the Chrysler stock went to crap and they merged, bought out, whatever you want to call it. I wish I had pictures of the trucks to show you, well, atleast the one I saw. With Allison becoming a part of GM Powertrain, I kind of doubt we will ever see it in the Dodge, but you never know.....crazier things have happened. I had heard rumor that Ford was looking last year, but I think they gave up the ghost with all the problems they were dealing with in the 6.0...and I think the Torqshift? seems to be holding fine.......like I said...I THINK.
I agree with Burner, that thing in a HPCR Dodge would really wake it up.....the 5speed contributes quite a bit to our Dmax. So when you gonna do it in a late model.....man that sounds like a t-shirt.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 08:08 PM If they are a big enough company like Jerr Dan, who is a chassis/body builder, they can buy Allison's directly.
I want to target a little smaller market maybe.. The light duty truck market, the guy who's tows 10-15k lbs frequently and needs a beefy trans.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 08:09 PM I'll DO IT :) in a late model when somebody offers up their truck :)
_nar_ 01-06-2005, 10:17 PM And from those pictures, what I noticed: There be tractors in front of that there truck.
Brayden 01-06-2005, 11:22 PM ):h You got it.. It's an AGCO though 2195 195hp front wheel assist.. We've got a 4430 Deere and few others, allis, ford, massey...
Nice Eye
Burnin Mad Max 01-07-2005, 03:17 AM I always loved the Bumin' Cummins it's just the Dodge wrapped arround them that turn me off.
_nar_ 01-07-2005, 10:41 PM Yep I only notice the important stuff...
