I am getting the edge attitude in a few days and i wanted to know what setting to run to get the most smoke???And what is a good way to let the tranny learn its new shifting points? If you train it in tow-haul, when you go back to non tow haul will it have to relearn everything again?
Thanks!!!!
I run mine on level 4 when not towing and it smokes pretty well under hard acceleration. I run level 2 when towing and to be honest, I've never noticed a lot of smoke while towing.
As far as the Allison having to "learn", I just drive it and it does just fine.
I found it's not the power level that your running, you can have it smoke on power levels 1 or 5. There is a throttle response value from 1 to 5, with 5 being the most responsive and it seems to generate the most smoke, on my truck. I run on power level 2 and response level 4 and it only smokes on hard acceleration or under heavy loads depending on the amount of boost that is showing when I punch the go peddle.

anything past the 90hp tune and you are playing with fire in terms of long term allison happyness. low boost fueling on 5 and the box set to 5 will generate the most smoke. It will need to do its learning in both TH and non TH but if you switch between th and non it wont forget what it already learned. The best way is to reset the taps if you know of someone that can do it. other way is to set it to level one and make a few runs through the gears at differnt throttle positions and then set it to what you will run it in and leave it there unless you need to turn it down to tow or something. You will get some funky shifts and some funky downshifts, its normal, it will get better.
