Hi guys:
I inherited an 82 6.2 that had been sitting for years and is needs an overhaul of everything. The truck ran when I picked it up and runs today (roughly). I've been working through some engine issues slowly though and it seems I have wobbling down at the harmonic balancer (heavily vibrating alternator belt led to noticing the pulley movement led to noticing that the HB is moving).
On external inspection, the balancer does not show the failing rubber that I read about with people who have HB problems. I got the truck so I can do all my own work but before I put out the expense and effort to go in there and replace the HB, I would feel much more comfortable if someone with a lot more experience on these engines looked at the bottom end with me to see if I really have bigger problems (gulp - crank, bearings?).
Is there a Phoenix-based mechanic (shop or not) that I should go to for such an opinion?
Thanks for any guidance and help,
Steve M (in Avondale)
