So here is a stupid question from someone relative new to diesels. I know water in the fuel is a real issue. Should I try to avoid filling when it is raining? Even if the pump is under cover, some water from the truck body could get in? Obviously not a lot, and I assume the separator can handle this much, but if it can be avoided at all, is it worth waiting out the weather?
As I said, kind of stupid.

Only time I've purchased fuel for any vehicle in the rain is when I happen to be on the road. No problems.

At my work condensation is more of a concern with our equipment and trucks. We fuel everything before it might sit for a while and try before it rains. You should ok i would think unless your filling up in a monsoon.
Don't worry about it unlees you got a downpour and it's obvious water is getting in the filler.

Fill up, when you have to. I haven't had a problem, filling in the rain.
Just the smart a$$ comments from my wife about a drowned rat....

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think the rain will amount to much. If its downpouring you should be in the truck waiting for it to let up.
