I'm getting ready to buy a new 1 ton drw truck , one of my requirements is the ability to put a camper shell on it. I'm having a difficult time finding shells that will fit on the GM duallys. Is the dually bed so different from the srw bed that it needs a different mold for a camper shell to fit? So far I've only found one shell that is spec'd for it, a Snugtop XV. Not to say that it's ont a nice shell, it would just be nice to have some more choices. ANybody know of another one? I'm looking for a real smooth looking cab high shell.
If anyone has pics of a dually with a shell on it, that would be cool too.
Thanks,
Evan

I have a Z on my C2500HD. Very happy with it. I would suggest that you send them your fuel cover, for paint matching, when you order. Their colors are just a shade off.

I'm not sure about your model in particular, but Glastite makes a nice shell for about everything else. I got one to match my 04 Dodge for $1,000 here in Denver. has the carpet lined interior, cargo light, dual handles, and the front glass that folds in so you can clean the glass on the truck and shell without a sponge on a stick.

The Z from ARE is pretty much exactly that look that I'm after. Thanks!

BlackMax, Did you see my add in the classified? I'm East of Sacramento, towards Tahoe. A bit far? unless you wanted to do some skiing/snowboarding. Before it was Placerville, it was known as 'Hangtown' due to a 'hangin' judge' here in the Gold Rush days.

The difference in the Z series for a dually is this: the lower edge of the shell wraps down around the bed rails to conceal the black bed cap that gm puts on from the factory and the bed rails are different on a dually from a regular box. So for that reason a shell from a dually and a standard bed won't swap and fit perfectly. I'm speaking from experience, my old truck was an '03 dually with an ARE Z series, my new truck is a 2500 with a Z series. Part of my reasoning for going with a shortbox on the new truck was the fact I needed to buy a new topper anyway.
Hope this helps.
