hey i got a buddy of mine with a o1 f150 with the 4r70w trans i believe thats what he said???? pretty sure though. I know its not a allison i thought maybe you guys would have a little idea if not cool. anywho he was driving home the today and it sudddenly would not shift into 3 or 4. gets to about 40mph and r's just keep climbing. i told him to have the codes read, he took it to dealer and they said it did not throw any codes( seemed wierd to me) i also told him to have them look at the speed sensor, which he forgot to ask themhttp://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif. anyway they dropped the pan and said there were no shavings, but said it did smell a little burnt. they say he needs a whole rebuild it just seems a little suspisous to me. i know the allison will always thow codes if something is up. i dont know much about fords so just was hoping you guys could lead me to a answer. so i guess, 1. do you think it sounds like a full rebuild, or just some new clutchs, 2. could it be the speed sensor on trans, would that throw a code?? 3. accumalator spring on 2-3 gears broke?? any other ideas it just seems weird to me, no noises, no grinding or rubbing, wineing etc. there telling him 2000$ and i dont want him to get screwed if its a 25$ speed sensor. thanks in advance hope y'all got some idea's for me.

Now I would look at the all the check balls in the valve body, might have just got a chunk of shit lodged in one of them. A good flush may help as much as anything.

yeah thats what i said to about the flush, ah well he has it in a tranny shop now, he told them to just fix it what ever is wrong fix it:eek2:, i said ok whatever thats on you, tranny shop said 900 to 1500 so thats still 500$ less than the dealer said. thanks for the input though. ill just stick with my duramax-alli combo, lol :ro)
