Do you guys actually trust the truck to tell you when the oil needs changing....or just pick an interval and change it???

I like to change mine every 5k. A lot of people here will go longer than that. I have the same feature about the oil life in my truck but, would never use it to guage my oil changes.

Every 5,000 here to. Change the oil and the filter. Use Shell Rotella 15-40. Let the dealer do it, get a decent price and use GM filter. Don't want to have any BS should a warranty problem arise.

I did my first oil & filter change at 1200, again at 5k and then every 5k thereafter. I run Rotella 15w40 and GM filters.

Allison spin on tranny filter at 5k.

Rear diff fluid drain and replace at 5k.

Fuel filter at 12k, but I'll replace it again at 20k and every 10k thereafter.

The same as BudTX. Sealer advice and best thing to do on the warranty.

Local dealer has a great oil change service if you buy the vehicle from them.

they recomend 3k on gas engines, 5K on diesel.

on my diesel I go every 5K. dealer charges $20 for oil/filter change and chassis lube. Can't even match that price doing it myself.

on my s-10, I go every 3K, dealer only charges $10 on it for the same service.

Believe it or not, the guys over at the oil forum say it works pretty well. I would recommend changing oil after 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, and 10,000 miles. After that, do what makes you feel good.

Personally, I am at 4k interval with Delvac 1300 Super and will switch to synth and 10k intervals at 10,000 miles, once a year, or when the oil life system says to change. I don't drive mine daily.

There is an explaination from the GM technet floating around here about the Oil Life system and how it really works.

I go to the dealer and they change oil, rotate tires, fluid checks, minor under truck check for between $75-$80.

I think it's a good deal and I don't have to touch a thing.

I keep reciepts of oil changes, filter changes, and any other maintenance or warranty issues. Nice to show future buyer the records, shows truck was taken good care of. :)

Every 5k on mine, I use Mobil One 5w-40 synthetic, every 5k is probably too soon for synthetic, but that's where I feel comfortable. I use AC Delco filter, costs me about $60 each change doing it myself.
