Out of respect for others (mainly the women folk) "The Big D," still has step tubes on it to aid entry. I really hate the nerf tube style setup though, no offense to those who like it. I need something different and the only way I can choose for sure is to see them on preferably crew cabs so I can make an informed choice. :( I'm this close to just making my passengers do the flying leap. Anyone have any experience with the hideaway power steps that extend when the door is opened? Please help me.
Oh yeah I have Platinum series Westin's now.-:t

There was a post with pics of the AMP research step that you can find if you search. Also I have been meaning to take some pics of mine w/kodiaks and my brothers burban w/AMP research step. I will try to get around to it soon.

Heres a better side profile. The good part was that I didn't lose any ground clearance and now the frame is hidden.

... and whats the matter w/ nerfs! Much easier to keep clean and isn't a catch all for all kinds of road junk. Just about every "step" style I have seen over 2 years old, sags and looks like cr^p.

Just .02 from a nerf-er

Hey, I said no offense to those who like them but I'd rather give you Benjamin to take them off my rig):h than put a set of free ones on. I never liked em' and never will.-:t

Thanks for the pix JRZ2500HD. I'll keep them in mind.:)

The thing I like about boards are that they help keep the sides of your truck from chips and it says cleaner.

That is another perk. I ran Dee Zee boards on my K1500 Jimmy years ago and while they were plain looking (not diamond plate) they certainly kept the road grime and rocks off the side of the truck.

Does anybody have the N-Fab bars/steps? I kinda like the look of them and they look like they would provide a better step. I just wonder how well they hold up. I havn't been able to find much feedback on them. Also, if anybody has pictures that would be great:)

i got the N-fabs and like them. Not to thrilled with the company itself (took forever to get) but like the steps.
I'd highly suggest not having them paint them but rather have your local powdercoater add powder coat to them. The fronts of the hoop in the steps are chipping off. My front tires aree wider than normal and do toss extra crap back there. (Will soon have flaps up there).

Few pic's:

More pic's in my Sig.

I am looking to upgrade to the Amp steps so these 'may' be forsale sometime in Febuary. A friend has these and they are pretty sweet but cost 500-600 more than N-fabs.

I have a set of Trail Boss wheel to wheel steps that I like quite a bit. They protect the cab very well & they have a plate at the back of the step that keeps your foot from sliding all the way through/across the step & wedging against the cab. Very nice when it is wet & slippery! Here is a pix:

If you use the vehicle off road, I would think you would want the nerf bar type steps as these hook to the body bolts and the step itself wouldn't be as apt to bend in off road conditions.

I have had N-fab bars on all my trucks that have been lifted or in need of steps... I think they are very cool and easy to install. I never had any issues with mine other than like someone above this thread said about paint chipping. I had my 2nd and 3rd set powdercoated and did not have that problem anymore. I have another set coming soon and I am having them powdercoated white to match my truck. I will post pics when they get here...

I'm tired of looking at them now and feel they'll just have to jump because they're coming off for sure. If I see somthing I like other than nerfs I will bolt them up to appease the masses.

Thanks Mike and Aggie your trucks look great. My brother had a set like yours Aggie on his Cab-in-a-half right from GM he really liked them and put a similar set on his new Ford crew cab.

BURNING MAD MAX, HERE'S the web site for AMP STEPS!! http://www.amp-research.com/invent/powerstep.asp# ENJOY! HowardThanx Howard those are really cool. I would like to see them up close before I spend that kind of jing though. Kinda like to see how tough they are built. Do you have a set or just know about them? They don't really mention if they are corrosion resistent or anything either. I need to do some more research. Thanx for all the ideas guys. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
