: boost gauge on lb7
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 07:09 PM had my boost gauge, egt,and diff gauges installed today, and i dont think my boost one is acting up to par.
i have to give it almost 1/4 to 2/3 pedal for the gauge to move? once it gets moving it will make its way right on up to 21-22 lbs. no programmer, all stock.
and whe driving normal, like 55 on flat ground. it shows no boost.
is this normal?
my 06 will move alot faster. but it is using edge gauges.
Clark20ry 01-15-2008, 07:19 PM I know on mine if I am just cruising I only show about 2 - 3 lbs of boost. When I jump on it it will jump to 21 lbs of boost..
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 08:55 PM my boost gauge goes to 60, so it might have trouble seeing the 2-3 psi, but i dont see it move at all!
Hammer 4 01-15-2008, 09:01 PM i think your guage is O.k...I have the ISSPRO goes to 40, even with a 225 tune installed with added boost, it take some throttle to get the needle to move. Your gonna see about 20-22 psi max at full throttle.
Mine shows no boost at 65-75 mph.
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 09:08 PM i drilled and tapped the aluminum intake, after the inercooler. i thought it might be lagging from the boost. anyone know where to buy ppe Gauges? not on their website???
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 09:08 PM ill get more boost with a tune? i got the ppe boost valve on it already.

I think the PPE guages were actually Diprocl's (sp) might check with Dan @PPE, I also think they discontinued them.. or give David a call at Dieselmanor..?

I have the autometer nexus gauges. Is your gauge mechanical or electric?
volumejunkie 01-15-2008, 09:11 PM You will need more fuel to make boost most likely. I had a 60lb gauge and traded it out for a 40lb. I noticed a big difference in sensitivity between them.

Yup, my PPE ups the boost, I see 32 psi easy at wot.
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 10:08 PM mechanical gauges.

Yes. The lower the value the greater resolution for a given range.
We know stock turbos do not like more than 35 PSIG. So using a 35lb or 40lb gauge makes sense.
Using 60 or 100, you will barely budge the needle over it's calibrated range.

X2! I have a 35psi gauge, and at 65 I am running 4-5psi of boost.

And you have no tuner that adds fuel, or boost..?
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 11:13 PM ppe on the way as far as a tuner, i helped a guy on here, he was selling his gauges that ppe wouldn't take back. so i got the ones ppe has made.
dirtymax70 01-15-2008, 11:15 PM its not really a big deal, i was just maknig sure it was working like it was supposed to.
Clark20ry 01-16-2008, 11:10 PM And you have no tuner that adds fuel, or boost..?
I have a 60lb gauge and its very sensitive. At cruise ie 65mph if I am on a flat road it rns 3 - 4 lbs. I do have a tuner but the only time I see a difference is at WOT.. Stock is 19 - 20 and with the 120 hp tune I get around 22 - 24 lbs of boost...
ProjectMAX 01-18-2008, 10:52 PM And you have no tuner that adds fuel, or boost..?
Nope. Stock tune. No tuner yet, no lift pump yet. Just a PPE Boost Valve. Max that I have hit is 22psi.
02DuramaxHD 01-19-2008, 10:57 AM my boss has a dodge with gauges and we drive it sometimes for plowing snow, his boost doesn't move that much unless accelerating...like stomping it. I'm sorry i mentioned the "D" word on here...i'm strickly a chevy guy.:D

Reason I asked was due to my truck haveing a tuner that adds fuel, and boost, yet I don't see any boost while cruising at 65 mph..I guess even like year truck are different..

Could be, maybe your air line is kinked. I ran some tygon tubing on mine so I had no chance of getting any kinks. The autometer tubing sucks!

on't have the autometer stuff either..and no kinks here..:D

Hmmm, must be different trucks then.
Jared Duramax 01-20-2008, 04:33 PM the reason the guage doesnt move much wen crusing is because our turbos are not variable vane so they dont always build alot of boost
dirtymax70 01-20-2008, 11:30 PM mine is working like it should now, it was just less boost than i am used to with the 06
