hey all, i'm new around here, but have been around the diesel world for awhile, mostly as a bystander. anyhow, came across what i think is a damn good deal on a ZF-6 up in Huron, SD about 2 hours from me.

it is a 2003 GMC 2500HD SLE LB7/ZF-6 cc, lb, with ~65k on it. one owner, the dealership sold it new. they are asking $24,900 for it. anything i should be aware of?

thanks guys.

I saw that truck too. I'd grab it if I were you. ZF6 trucks are getting hard to find. The flywheels are weak but there's a fix for that. I love mine.
Let us know what you do.
BTW,Welcome to DP :D.

Have them run the vin to see if the flywheel has been replaced. I wouldn't be concerned either way unless it's had more than one replacement. It would be a bonus if they replaced both the flywheel and clutch. It will tell you how the truck was driven...sort of.

Using KBB it looks like they are right at retail listing in excellent condition. I'd offer $22K. Give them room to manuver. Use the 6spd as a disadvantage. Even though I've found the further west towards the Rockies you get the more manuals are popular.

this is the first one i've found in the area, only been looking hard for about 3 weeks now but its pretty good timing. we will see what the pics show before i make the trip up there.

talked to the dealer today and he said the guy that's had it for the past 2 years used it for a construction truck for his company. he is pulling the service records for me tomorrow.. that being said, if it's in tough shape i'll either offer him less or just leave it alone.

you're lucky you found one that close, like 06duramax6speed said, they are getting hard to find, just get enough knocked off the sales price that you can order a South Bend Clutch the same day, because you'll need it!

Seems like a good deal to me.

I just drove my new-to-me ZF-6 truck just over 1,000 miles home to New Hampshire because the deal was right.

One owner, known issues solved at selling dealership, immaculate condition overall and my color, too!

Go get it!
