Asked Baldwin if they made a replacement filter for the 1441 but with 50% larger capacoity and the 1441 micron rating. They replied "no" and also advised the 1441 is made of heavier material than the standard filters because of the high oil pressure of the Duramax when it was cold. They also advised the 1441 is rated for 6 microns and it can hold 19 grams of contaminents. Thought this might be of interest for some of our readers. BG

What other filter manufacturers are people using?

In my search for better filters, I've done searches the following companies offer Duramax oil and/or fuel filters:

Fleetguard, Luberfiner, Baldwin, Wix, AC-Delco, Purolator, Donaldson among others.

I am particularly interested in purchasing the Fleetguard or Baldwin based on "Cummings" forums (Sorry guyshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif) It seems thay are well made, filter finer and have a long time proven record.

JohnnyO,

That is Cummins not Cummings (no "g" in the name).

Joe-

I am sure it was meant as a joke...there was a thread on another page that was talking about the spelling... I guess you had to be there to get it....
