I was watching a tv show on the speed channel about Diesel trucks and they started talking about pryometer probe placement. the tech on the show suggested placing the probe post turbo, stating that the reading would not be as accurate but in the event of the probe breaking off, the turbo would be safe. I have a probe installed pre turbo (rear of pass side exhaust manafold) and was wondering if anyone has heard of or had a probe break >
I have read a couple of threads in different forums where somone has had on break and go through the turbo however it didn't cause turbo failure. I have yet to install mine but with the addition of the Juice I plan to next week and will place it pre turbo as I would really like to know what the true temps are. Post Turbo you will not get a true piston temp. I towed my 38 Toyhauler with three sportsman quads through the mountains of AZ last weekend and left the Juice on level 2 as I could not monitor the temps. Left my foot out of the gas and it pulled like a champ 4th and 5th gears. The Pyrometer will be piece of mind.

I agree, which is why I put mine where it is, I tow my horses all the time in level 3 and temps have never been an issue. thanks
