I need to remove the mirror glass on my vehicle to install some LED lights. After carefully looking at these things I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea how to remove the glass. Can anybody provide details on how I might accomplish this task.
I have an 02 with the extendable towing mirrors.

I have had the same idea. I do have the power, so how would you remove it.

Pull real hard... tricky without breaking the glass. This is for 01-02. 03-up power extending you have to pry on a tab from underneath, then slide the mirror up.

When I switched to the signal glass mirrors, the instructions told me to litterally start prying around the edges of the old mirror and apply pressure until the "clips" popped off the motor puck in the center. Only trouble was, the mirror gets broken no matter how careful you are. In my case it didn't matter, but getting that glass off (regular mirrors or towing) without breaking the mirror itself is highly unlikely. Have you tried asking your favorite bodyshop how they would do it?
Wish I could come up with something more positive for you.

Rookie, I took my mirrors apart by tilting the mirrors all the way in and down then used a couple long straight screwdrivers to pop the little hooks loose. It takes a few minutes to do but I dont break the mirrors doing it. Hope this helps
