Something very annoying is happening to my truck. I started noticing that the inside is starting to make all kinds of crackling noise, and the doors squeak. First the door on the passenger side squeak when going over bumps ( yes they are shut and come together fine)( CC doors, 1 big 1 small) I have greased the hinges and latches but still noisy. The other thing is that the front pillars next to the windshield both "crackle", I am not sure how to describe the sound better than that.

I was wondering if anyone else had these problems and what they did about them. Thanks for any feedback.

Try using silicone spray on your weatherstripping, it helps alot. Be generous.

I have noticed some of this too, but I believe it is the cold weather causing the plastic stuff to be a little "brittle" and the bouncing and jouncing makes it crackle and creek. Seems to disappear in the warmer weather.

It may not be your doors. Mine has a squeak back there and it is coming from the back seat right at the door.

I think you may be right. Speaking of the cold, it's actually cold right now where I live. What if it doesn't disappear in the warmer weather? should it mean I get to purchase another truck? ( just kidding)

Any ways thanks a bunch to You, Max Payne and Wakeboarder for replying, it's appreciated.

Had the same problem, spray the door latches as well as the waetherstrip, the latches have some sort of plastic in them & they squeek when they dry out.

You say CC but then say 1 big and 1 small. Are you saying crew cab or ext cab (club cab)? My ext cab used to rattle after a while and like said before a shot of spray lube on the hinges and contact points and i was good for a few months. My crew cab now i have had no problems with, just shut the doors and your done!

Thanks for the response, it's appreciated. Did it stop squeaking for you?

Sorry for not being clear. It's a club cab. I will have to go back and try that again, hopefully it will stop the squeaking. Thanks for the help.

The one downfall of GM vehicles - crappy interiors. Every GM vehicle I have owned has more squeaks and rattles than Ford vehicles I have owned. My wife's 2003 Ford Expedition is still tight as a drum while my 2005 GMC 2500HD CC squeaks and moans every time I drive over a little bump in the road.

I think that as GM is coming out with new models they are trying to upgrade their interior quality. The new Corvette is a case in point. I am betting that the next pickup redesign will see a much improved interior in regard to quality.

Had the "pillar" creak in my truck also, Took it in about a month ago, The dealer ended up taking down the headliner and "insulating" something at the passenger pillar. It`s a common complaint apparently !

Same here pretty much, every GM vehicle I have owned also has more squeaks than the fords I have owned. The only ford I have now is my Saleen Mustang, that I refuse to get rid off :)

I didn't know that, maybe I should think about taking mine in to have them fix it, along with all the other problems...:D

Any ways, thanks for all the help everyone.

My '00 superduty squeaked like heck in the cold; enough defroster would warm it up and stop squeaking eventually. The '02 dodge did the same thing. So far (knock on wood), the '04 chev is squeak free.
