what is the word on the street on the new fuel filter for the dmax. Is this something I should go ahead and do myself or is the dealer recalling the old style. My truck was made 04/04 and has 4k miles on it ( I know I'm really going to wear it out quick at this rate!) Somebody tell me what to look for.

Seems like if you have the old ones, they would still work. If you get a new one, it should work, too, even better. I wouldn't change it unless you are due, unless you like changing it. With only 4k on it, and if you haven't changed it, you might consider it already. I change mine with the oil, oil filter, and spin on. Do the air filter every once in a while when I feel like it. Sometimes I even leave the MAF unplugged and look like an idiot, well okay, I did that once.

Don't feel so bad. The stealer left my whole intake tube from the airbox on back unhooked. Also the negative on the passenger side batter unhooked. I got home that day and had the SES light come on the next time I started her up. Checked the codes and then went under the hood. What a surprise.

probably doesn't make any difference, but from what I have seen, when they look up parts on the computer, they need to select the vehicle type , engine, transmission, 2/4wd etc. before they can get in and look up parts. So, unless the parts guy has the number on the top of his head, he may ask some odd questions.

I just get into the habit of telling them 04 silverado, 4wd, CC, LLY diesel, automatic, then what I need.

Thats what I thought to, but the computer one was marked for an automatic and one for a 6 speed. I dunno?
