My fiance and I were driving to Iowa before christmas pulling a horse trailer and the truck just died in the middle of I-80 doing 80mph. My fiance was driving and the truck jerked like we had a fuel surge and then it died (great experiece with power steering and brakes)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/censored.gif. I had her put it into nuetral and try to restart and it wouldn't. Luckily it was fairly late about 30 miles from lincoln ne. so there weren't too many cars on the road so we pulled off the road removed the key from the ignition, and I was then able to restart, but the check engine light was on. I called onstar and had them do a diagnostic and they couldn't see any problems. I went ahead and finished the drive to Iowa with the check engine light on. The check engine light was off the next day and hasn't come back on since. I am going to try to get the truck in later this week to see if there are any codes.

Any ideas??????http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif

How cold was it outside when it happened? Maybe you had a temporary fuel gel problem, and sitting for a few minutes helped. I thought that if the MIL came on, there were always codes stored and Onstar could see them. Even though the MIL went back off, it will have history codes stored.

It was aobout 18 degrees, we had been traveling about 400 miles pretty much non stop and I had diesel supplement in the tank. I also only had the key out of the ignition for less than 20 seconds, so the truck wasn't off very long.
