do you have to replace the whole air filter assembly? or just where the filter is? i tried to get the filter out but had no luck. i just checked and it says the fuel filter has 28% life left. probly hasnt ever been changed. dont have a code reader.

First I would get you a new fuel filter, because that is probably you problem. How many miles have on that filter. I would do that first but couldnt hurt to get a new air filter. You just replace the filter only...sometimes they are kind of tricky to get out, just pull the assembly off if needed and then dont be afraid to use a little force to get it off. I bought the lights off from Ebay and they are pretty much junk but on your truck you can fit the ones from the Denali which are SWEET to say the least. Hope this helps.

Wouldn't think so in Weatherford, but has your regular fueling stop switched to a winter fuel? That accounts for a few MPG from what I've heard. I noticed a drop when my place switched.

pretty simple. just make sure that the oem seal doesnt stay on the filter base or you cant get the new filter w/ seal on there. i wouldnt know...

Very Simple. Some remove the inner fender well but I can easily get it from the top. Only issue I had when I did my first one is that the grommet on the middle stayed on the filter housing. Make sure that is off and that he outer gasket goes on and stays on and it is a breeze. First time maybe 1/2 hour. After that 10 or 15 minutes.

yeh i just looked! and goodness! they didnt want to make it simple! what do you do first? do you unscrew the white dil at the bottom first? or the filter?? man heres one thing that the cummins and powerstroke have better...

what I usually do is unplug the WIF sensor plug ( the white thingy at the bottom of the filter. then I take the whole filter off using a band type filter wrench. now you can bump the air conditioning line over a little bit so the filter will slide up between the motor and AC line. empty filter into a container ( or maybe get a funel and dump it back into the tank. then unscrew the WIF sensor and place it in the new filter assembly. then reverse the process to install the new filter. now I usually have a hard time getting the new filter to start threading on. takes a bit of muscle to get it started.then plug the WIF sensor connector back in.then open the bleeder screw and pump the air out. close the screw and fire her up

I take the air tube off (two hose clamps) then you can see and get the filter off easier. This works good on the 2006 and newer trucks.

Wow, I have the same problem.

Actually I think my problem is that I wore out the return spring on the go pedal.:)

Seriously though how many miles? I didn't see where you're from but my last two tanks were "winter" blended with #1 and I saw a big drop just from that.

i didnt have to take off the intake tube or fender thing

You shouldnt have to take off the intake to get at it, just bend some things around...its kind of a pain to take the inner well plus you have to deal with those POS clips that always break....:D

Takes some finagaling the first time but you will get the hang of it and then you wont even take the well out. So did that take care of your mpg issue a little bit?

If you read Merchants DIY thread it becomes MUCH easier.....i posted it in the previous page, should take long at all and you can get it from the top....just bend the cond lines around...
