i just got my tires. i had them mounted and balanced at discount tire, but now that theyre on my truck, they seem like theyre really low. if my truck is sitting still and i turn the wheel, they bulge a lot, idk if this is because i have an 8 wheel or because theyre low. i do basically all on road driving with offroad here and there, no rock crawling or anything . what pressure should i run?

Well you could start by using a gauge and seeing what it says your pressure is... Then compare to the "Max Cold PSI" thats on your tire. Ususally the guys at tire shops have no clue what they're doing and think that every tire in the world should be at 35 psi... Every tire size is different and has a different rating - what size tire and load range do you have? (e.g. 265/70R17E)

size is in my sig load range D

Good starting point would be to see what the recomended cold pressure is for the tires ( says it on the sidewall) and start there..should be around 50 lbs.

ok so thats my starting point, how do i figure out what to keep it at? i know i should deflate a little when driving on the beach etc.

The maximum PSI should be noted on the sidewall near the load range, etc. My tires have a maximum 80 PSI - I run my fronts at around at around 70 PSI (the sticker on the door notes 65 PSI), and the rears at 75 PSI. When I pull my trailer, I put the rears at 78 to 80 PSI for the extra load capacity.

O.K..on my 315 bfg's..it says 50 #'s cold, and that's what I run em at..less air = lower mpg's, and possibly uneven tire wear (don't forget to rotate em) more air = better mpgs, but faster tire wear ..usually, so you have to find a happy medium..towing you need to air em up like Vin said.

ya ya i knew about the wear and mpg stuff i just dont know how to decide my happy medium.

should i just check my tires for wear and outside= needs more air, center= needs less air

i'd run em at the max to start, and go from there..if it's riding to harsh, drop 10 lbs of air...

get a pryometer drive a few miles and check outside, middle and inside temps and adjust the pressure from there (middle hotter lower pressure, outside/inside more hot increase pressure.
