: LLY Exhaust Sound Clip
BMDMAX 01-02-2005, 07:18 PM With the weather being really nice here in Georgia over the last few days I decided to put the install mission on hold for some more mundane housekeeping items. You have to love being able to wash a truck in January without freezing your b Censored lls off and in short sleeves no less. :D
With both trucks looking like a couple of mobile pig pens I broke out the bucket and got them washed up. Along the way I recorded some sound clips of the exhaust systems too. I am sure my neighbors thought I was smoking some crack running around with a laptop near the exhaust pipe. :o
I have a LLY file of the KD 4/5 exhaust and of the LB7 with the banks. Each file has some sounds very close to the pipe to hear the idle level, some throttle goosing captured a few feet away and a 2000 RPM powerbrake. I was shooting for good quality on the recordings so the files are large for WAVs, you may want to right-click and save as to bring them down to your PC for playback.

BMDMAX 01-02-2005, 09:32 PM She was eyeballing my rims the other day. I have hid the impact gun for now.
The stock pizza cutters do have to go and soon. They look like dog squeeze and I had forgotten what a PITA they are to wash.
Yep, she got the better one for sure. :)

yamahagrizzly 01-02-2005, 11:00 PM ok with the lly what kind of exhaust it is that? is it straight piped? is their a cat on it? that sounds awsome!
BMDMAX 01-03-2005, 12:19 AM ok with the lly what kind of exhaust it is that? is it straight piped? is their a cat on it? that sounds awsome!
It is the 4-to-5 inch exhaust system from Kennedy Diesel. It does have a muffler on the system. There is no cat on my truck. I really like the full 5-inch pipe from the muffler back, it looks nice and seems to really add to the overall sound. I think that it strikes a good balance between a performance/jet sound and not being too obnoxious while towing like a straight pipe.
It was most definitely worth the bucks. :D
Trippin 01-03-2005, 12:40 AM LB7 goes "Bark Bark" after the power brake? ):h
Woob woob woob woob. :D
Recording so real there is actually something here on my desk that rattled during playback. Just like your neighbor's windows when you drive by! :D
Mackin 01-03-2005, 07:05 AM Did you alter the sound bits? Figuring the IT Specialist in you came out for the clip! :D
The KD sounds a whole heaping better on the LLY then the Banks on the LB7.
Anyone have a LB7 KD for comparison?
BMDMAX 01-03-2005, 11:56 AM I was going to do a little processing on the files if needed but they came out pretty good. These are the original recordings with no changes. I was pretty surprised considering the crappy microphones you get on a laptop.
I don't have a recording of his LB7 stuff but someone else might.
Kennedy 01-03-2005, 01:22 PM Sounds nice! I'll have to play it in the shop as all I have is the cheesy speakers on my monitor.
Personally, I think the Pewter loks nicer than the Silver Birch by far. Elaine commented the other day though that we can't park both trucks in the same bldg any more as the Sandstone really makes the Pewter look plain...
Rick did a mpg of my 4" system. Sound is deceiving though as his audio seems much stronger. It is linked from my site or here:

yamahagrizzly 01-03-2005, 06:03 PM not to take away from your truck or thread but my hearts set on duels. and i was wondering if any one has ever herd the duels and the kennedy 4/5 at the same time.
trust me i am verry temped to get that 4/5 set up but i want duels.
BlueOx03 01-03-2005, 07:06 PM I've heard them both, at different times...there's not a huge difference in sound....IMO duals are more for looks and speading the smoke better...
Ox
Z71 Grizzly 01-04-2005, 11:55 PM I want to spread the smoke better too but don't really care for the angled duals. I wish somebody could come up with a more variety of stainless duals.I really like how you took it upon yourself to design your own duals BlueOx03. Looks good.
partsguy662 01-05-2005, 11:01 AM I want to spread the smoke better too but don't really care for the angled duals. I wish somebody could come up with a more variety of stainless duals.
WTF??? Your valve seals are so shot that you want to spread blue smoke everywhere???
Z71 Grizzly 01-05-2005, 11:37 PM What are you talking about, Blue smoke?. I don't have blue smoke or any smoke yet for that matter. Valve seals are fine also.
partsguy662 01-05-2005, 11:51 PM Well, it would stand to reason...you say you want to spread the some better...you have a gas powered truck...seemed logical to me
Kennedy 01-06-2005, 10:46 AM I've left the duals to the gassers...;)
Z71 Grizzly 01-06-2005, 09:56 PM I'm talking in future tense since I'm going to be getting a Duramax and have now a gasser. I'm talking blowing Duramax black smoke on trailing dodges. I think I would get 5" for it after I get it because anything else is just too small anymore. Your going to laugh but I have 5" duals on my Z71. Bet never seen a redneck mobile with pipes that big on a gasser before. 2 28 1/2 long 5" semi tips. Was 58 and some inches long and I miter cut it in half. LOUD and gurgly.
