: Re-did my exhaust...again...tips are gone for good...
BlueOx03 01-02-2005, 06:22 PM Well I liked the big a$$ tips, but I never could get them to line up right, they wouldn't fit with the Reese Titan V, I got tired of cleaning and polishing them and last, but not least, I got tired of those tips being all people seemed to see on my truck. So they're gone for good! I sold one to Mac ):h , but I still have the other.
Well here's the new set up. I put turndowns on that run inside the hitch and dump down all the way in the back. I'm sure this will soot up my trailer, but I'll see this weekend...If it does, oh well. I figured some of you might like to see I finally came to my senses.
Take Care,
Ox
I like that OX... Gives it a conservative but tough look.
Love to see some smoke coming out of them.
I adjusted my tip today.... backed into a big rock
GMC-2002-Dmax 01-02-2005, 07:04 PM Tires look a little BALD..........
Wonder Why..........):h
T:cool: NY
dmaxalliTech 01-02-2005, 07:26 PM Only thing I notice is you could use a painted tailgate handle/bezel in 91U....
BMDMAX 01-02-2005, 07:27 PM I like the new tips much better. That is pretty much the only way I would do duals too.
8.1GASSER 01-02-2005, 07:28 PM Only thing I notice is you could use a painted tailgate handle/bezel in 91U........and a SS tailgate cap.):h
8.1:ro)
Mackin 01-02-2005, 07:32 PM That is actually a real good look.I would seriously consider that as a optional exhaust system,5" dual tailpipes!
Nice Looking good decision
Took this shot at the 10-25-03 GTG.. Now this is conservative

CalDirt 01-02-2005, 07:42 PM BlueOx,
I like the way your rear bumper is color matched but something looks different about it. I see you have the Reese Titan V hitch, but what about that rear bumper? That doesn't look stock - looks like it rolls down further under the truck and rolls around the hitch. I'm pretty sure the GM/Chevy rear bumpers are the same. Is that a complete after market bumper, or just a cover? Do you have any info on who makes it?
Thanks.
Kurt W. 01-02-2005, 07:50 PM I actually considered doing that like the pic above the Hoot posted. Has anyone done it yet? Would like to know if it makes a mess under the truck. And if it sounds ok with the exhaust being underneath, may be kinda muffeled. Would save a little moo laa.
Mackin 01-02-2005, 08:15 PM Drove that truck pictured above 60/70+ miles mixed driving for a good two hours+.Loud and drone. I could tolerate it but I don't know if it is for everyone.
Z71 Grizzly 01-02-2005, 10:17 PM Looks good BlueOx03, I think the 5" will start too come into play soon since more poeple are installing it.
BlueOx03 01-02-2005, 10:24 PM That's my winter tailgate, I've got a new one ready to go on for summer, with a smoothed and painted tailgate handle not just painted over textured crap like the SS...can't do the SS cap since I put a cap on the truck and take it camping, otherwise I'd get the Street Scene one with the smooth rail caps.
Mac, 5s would be great, but even the fours are pushing it on the passenger side since I have the Titan and bags...
Hoot, isn't that the truck with the big swing hitch? I actually thought about doing that, but I think it would soot up the whole back of the truck...
Thanks for the compliments guys, I really like the way it turned out...
Ox
Oh yeah, Tony I haven't even flogged it YET, tomorrow looks to be nice and clear enough though...
akdiesel 01-02-2005, 10:38 PM Looks very good Ox.
I personly would not cut off the exhuast so that it does not exit the body of the vehicle. With these diesels and the extra power they make with the black smoke it will deffinatly make you underside a soot box. As well as the exhaust getting into the cab.
BlueOx03 01-03-2005, 12:13 AM BlueOx,

Good eye dude...It's a Yukon Denali bumper I rescued from the salvage yard (it still cost me a couple bills). I had to do quite a few mods to make it work. I wanted it because like you said, it rolls down around the hitch more. I also smoothed and painted the bottom and spare lock cap so it even puts a Denali to shame.

sprintmod1 01-03-2005, 11:43 AM Ox,
Looking good. I think you are going to have a soot problem on the trailer for sure.
Another concern would be that the backdraft you get behind the vehicle that the soot is going to get pulled up around the bumper and tailgate and they will get all messed up. Will be interesting to see what it does for ya.
AmericanMuscle 01-03-2005, 10:12 PM Looks awesome!

Yea the big honkin swing hitch. Never seen anything like it.
Sorry for the big picture... lazy

BlueOx03 01-03-2005, 11:39 PM AM, Thanks dude!
Hoot, that's the one I thought...

SpoolinTurbo 01-04-2005, 02:05 AM What advantage do you have with a hitch like that?
Burner 01-04-2005, 02:34 AM more stuff to break..........
If you cannot back a truck up... why have it?
baimpala 01-04-2005, 08:24 AM All I can say is 'ABOUT TIME!' Heh heh. Looks better IMO. I would love to have dual rear exit, but I know I'd soot the hell out of my trailer, and you know I would never wash it, so that's out.
Dennis
sprintmod1 01-04-2005, 11:04 AM That's a Pull-Rite hitch under that truck. Basically an upsidedown fifth wheel hitch designed to pull a tag trailer without any of the sway concerns. They can be locked down in position if need be for backing up.
Lawnboy 01-04-2005, 11:52 AM Sprintmod1 is right....It's a Pull-Rite hitch.
Designed to make any regular hitch trailer act like a 5th wheel. Takes all sway out. Prevents normal pivoting at the trailer hitch ball, and puts it all the way up by the rear axle.
Here is a shot of my Dad's Suburban with it on. Also a decent shot of a full 4" exhaust.
Ox, how about a shot of how you routed your pipes around the spare tire, etc?
Lawnboy 01-04-2005, 11:54 AM Another...
Fred G 01-04-2005, 01:12 PM BlueOx,
In addition to what DDuffy asked, how did you paint your chrome front bumper? My 03 chevy is the same color and I would really like to do the same monochrome theme. I checked out your pics, hey....nice truck!
Fred
BlueOx03 01-04-2005, 08:06 PM Thanks! I got a dinged front bumper from a salvage yard and hard it de-chromed and painted. I'll get some under shots up once I clean it up a bit...

Lennart 01-07-2005, 05:56 PM Ox,
I looked all over the place but I could not find any info you might have posted about your tire/wheel combo. I really like the looks.
Please let us know what you have.
Tire size? Wheel size? Backspacing? Brands?
Also it would be interesting to know if you still carry a spare under your truck with those big exhaust pipes coming out the back.
BlueOx03 01-12-2005, 11:42 AM Well I got back last night from picking up my new 8.5X24" Danzer cargo trailer and I'm happy to report...no soot on the trailer, not even on the WD hitch...none!
It was raining/snowing the whole way though...
Ox
Lennart, those are Alba Grip wheels 18X10 with GoodYear Wrangler AT/S(the tires Suck!) 275/65 R-18E
john@dps 01-12-2005, 05:34 PM Heh, lennart nice to see you made it back home safe, how was the vacation? John
