: Hot+2 lv10 Daily driving????
DMAX_MXR 01-08-2008, 07:33 PM With a built trans and all that good stuff can I run this tune daily. I dont pull much but haul mx bikes or a quad etc I'm wondering will it take its toll on durability and longetivity on the engine itself. I dont like the idea of dropping $6000 on a SC5 and TC and then change power levels often and then letting it relearn every time and then if I ever needed that power and it wasnt learned lets say getting on the highway I dont want to harm it even though its warrentied, labor is not free. So say I keep it under 2000rpm for economy and only crack on it once and awhile for fun would it last as long as say I ran it on say lv4 or lv6?? Also what are you getting for mpg on this tune with a light foot? Thanks
BigRedHD 01-08-2008, 08:00 PM Alot Of People Use High Power Levels For Daily Drivers. Just Be Careful When You Tow
TIM Z 01-08-2008, 08:02 PM Slightly diff trucks but I have the 350 tune loaded and drive it daily, I figure its like a Corvette, I can just drive sensible or easy as i want, but when i NEED the power, Its there, Im not wishing i had it programmed higher. It runs GREAT Daily driving with the fun factor i want.
DMAX_MXR 01-08-2008, 09:35 PM Okay so shell still last just as long without abuse??
Jared Duramax 01-08-2008, 09:40 PM do the trans befor level ten youll need it
zerogravity58 01-08-2008, 09:44 PM I drive on tune 10 all the time. Only problem time i have any problem is in the rain.
llybyppe 01-08-2008, 11:00 PM i have an lly and my buddy has an LB7 and both of us run them everyday like that. I dont punish my truck but I do horse around alittle with ricers and still get 19mpg. Gotta love PPE! I never wanted to run it in like level 2 or 3 and then somone wants to race me and I get smoked. I didnt drop a ton of money to sit and have a banks ford pass me by
DMAX_MXR 01-08-2008, 11:01 PM Okay I like what I'm reading. So just becareful on rain. I had that problem on level 5  I cant even imagine level 10. Thanks
standy 01-08-2008, 11:45 PM The only disadvantage that I have seen, is that when you get used to the power on level 10, you start robbing banks so you can buy more go fast parts. :D
Southern Bred 01-09-2008, 11:55 AM I wouldn't run any E.T. tunes with a stock tranny. There's no de-fuel in those tunes. May cause a tie up in the tranny.
DMAX_MXR 01-09-2008, 04:44 PM Right, which is way I'm taking a small loan out to have KD install a SC5/1056. By the sounds of it, it'll be trouble free when done right the first time. Thanks for the replys
radvans 01-09-2008, 09:19 PM I run lv 10 all the time. Runs great. Rain is not bad just drive it easy.
You can tow in lv9 as long as you have defuel off during shifts. (can't remove defuel on 10) I tried 10 and towing a 17000pd 5er was not fun. Any hills will over spin the turbo and this causes the trans to shift funky. I attribute this to the demise of my first stock turbo.
Other then that I let my wife drive my truck, very rarely but it does happen, and she says it drive like normal she is not sure why I spent all the money.
DMAX_MXR 01-09-2008, 11:02 PM Hey I know what you mean, my girlfriend says the same shit but I ask her how fast shes going and then she says oh shit! lol O well, as long as I notice the difference thats what counts
