Is it possible to remove the front driveshaft between the diff and transfer case and still drive the truck. I am trying to troubleshoot a vibration problem that is in 2wd and 4wd so I want to isolate the problem better.

Thanks Frank. I tried to remove it today but couldn't get it off. After removing the bolts that hold the u-joint on I assumed it would slide back towards the transfer case. Now I am wondering if it is a slip yoke or not. Do I need to use a rubber hammer or pry it back?

You have to pry it back pretty hard. It slides back into the transfer case, then when you get it down you pull it forward and the shaft slides out of the transfer case, similar to the tailshaft and rear driveline. It's sealed so it won't leak oil. Unless you pull the seal out to replace it anyway. The hard parts are prying it back, and getting the rubber boot to come off. You have to really pry on it to get it off without hurting it so you can slide it back on later.
