I see you found Geno's http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

If you dont have a Cummins dealer close by, Geno's is your best bet!

Here's the numbers for the '04 Cummins engines straight from Fleetguard.

Oil filter is LF 3972 ($7-8) or the upgrade is LF16035

Fuel/water filter is LS19579 ($13-14)

The 'stealers' charge up to 3 times that. Buy the Cummins filters from their subsidery - Fleetguard - at any Cummins repair garage.

Not surprised at what I saw today. Neighbor cam over and we started comparing his '03 Cummins with my '04. Interesting but nothing really different. Then we looked into some filter boxes we had.

It seems that Dodge is repackaging the Fleetguard filters into their MOPAR boxes and inflating the retail price 3 to 4 times over the Cummins dealers.

Read that line above again. It's true and we have the receipts to prove it. The filters are identical, including the Fleetguard name and numbers. They are in the same blister packaging for the fuel filters but the oil filter canister is grey on the Mopar and white on the fleetguard.

Unreal the profit Chrysler makes on those filters. I figured from their cost they are selling them at a 900% profit over cost while the Cummins dealer is getting 40% and probably happy.

I get my Fleeguard from a Sterling/western star dealer here. (DSM Iowa)

I get them cheaper than Cummins can sell them to me.

LF 3959 $4.31/ AF 25541 $11.56/ FS 19598 $9.43

Traveler,

WOW!

Thanks for the info. When I pass something like that I'll stop and check it out.

Captainmal:

As a new vendor here, we have the FS19579 for $12.65 and the LF 3972 for $6.95. There is a Stratapore upgrade version of the 3972 which is the LF 16035 for $8.95. Hope this helps if you need some.
