I have an ARE cover that came with a battery interior light. I have changed it to a 12 volt light. In the past on other trucks I have run a seperate hot wire from the battery to the light. I would like to do it a little more professionally this time. I would like to wire it so I don't have to turn something else on before I turn the cover light on.

If you have a seven pin trailer connection, feed the light off the wire in the connector that is always hot. Don't recall which one it is off-hand but easy to find with a test light. My light for my cap is run off of it.

Or if you have the fifth wheel wiring option you can use that also. That's what I did.
