In the IH 484 one of the journals is tore up. I measured it and come up with .030 over what it should be. .030 is the biggest over sized bearing I can get in the parts catolog. Can this be built back up then machined down or will I have to get a new crankshaft?

the crank can built up and machined down i don't know what cost would be. instead of new you can always look into a remaned crank. hope this helps.

I think I can get a remanufactured crank for $450.

It would probably be cheaper to get it built up and turned. I looked into this a few years ago with a 454 crank that had a ruined thrust surface. I ended up putting a Scat crank in, but your crank is probably alot more expensive than a big block Chevy.

They list 2 crank shafts for it, one is $750 and one is $450. I hope mine has the $450 one in it.
