Has anyone experience with the composite bed that GM offered?

I think that is the bed I've got on my dually. It's definitely not sheet metal, I like it, no problems yet about 36k mi.

To my knowledge the composite bed was only avilaiable in the 1500 LS and LT Silverado ECSB models. The tailgate was also composite....
The feature was called PRO-TEC. I only found it in the Chevy but not in the GMC catalogs of 2002 and 2003, donīt have the 2004 but is is not in the 2005 catalog.
Does anyone know why it was dropped and why they did not make it available to the
"real" work trucks?

I know a few contractors around the area had bought a few 1500's with the Pro-tec bed. Everyone of them wishes GM would have offered it in the 2500's and long bed. I haven't heard one of them complain about it. And no they don't crack.

It`s a new feature in the 2005 Toyota Tacoma also, Tough material, it should be bullet proof !!
