: would i benifit from exhaust
natekidd 01-06-2008, 05:52 PM i have an 01 duramaxx with an air aid intake ppe boost valve and a hypertech on stage 3 (96hp) runs great, egts are stay below 1200 whall towing 33 ft trailer. i want to know if i would benifit from a 4in exhaust? would i loose any bottom end?
cumminstrokethi 01-06-2008, 06:38 PM yes, you would benefit... anyone and everyone benefits from a bigger exhausts. No, you wouldn't lose any bottom end power.
diesel625 01-06-2008, 06:51 PM yeah, you would. as soon as you add any tuner, or up the power, you should upgrade your exhaust. a 4" would be more than adequate, or you could straight pipe your oem exhaust.
ZF6 MAN 01-06-2008, 08:23 PM DONT CUT YOUR FACTORY EXHAUST Many people do it but they are expensive if you have to trade it in . You will see noticable gains in HP and MPG with a 4" turbo back exhaust.
natekidd 01-06-2008, 10:43 PM will it be a noticeable increase in power by way of the butt dyno? and where can i find the best deal?
Duration 01-07-2008, 05:20 AM Lower EGT's about 100 degrees. Best deal I found was ( not to popular )
aluminized steel Jerry Jardine. :D And he is a Supporting vendor here!

natekidd 01-07-2008, 02:40 PM thanks just ordered one, ill return and report.
LWATSON 01-07-2008, 07:19 PM If you lose bottom end with the full system like I did on my LB7 just put your stock 3 1/2" front pipe back on. I did this and you still get the benefits of lower egt's and you'll get your bottom end back.

Unless you have another factory one to cut up :)

If you lose bottom end(which i highly doubt) MBRP makes a torque tube that you could put on your exhaust.
natekidd 01-08-2008, 01:40 AM what mods did you have when you lost power?
LWATSON 01-08-2008, 07:12 PM what mods did you have when you lost power? My LB7 was 100% stock the exhaust was my first mod. I wish I would have tried the full system with the 6-gun but I did drive allot with the 6-gun turned off so I would have had to deal with the dead bottom end when on stock. Others may have different results than I did with a full system but It definately hurt my trucks power.

Installed yet?
Fetchum 02-01-2008, 11:18 AM I thought I'd chime in on this thread and throw my .02 in. I have an 02 that I just had a 4inch mbrp turbo back installed two days ago. I also run the hypertech on level 3.
My advice is to get the exhaust. Besides having a very deep sound, I have noticed better pedal response and spool up. EGT's seem to run a little cooler and cool down is much faster. I am very happy I finally decided to pull the trigger and get the exhaust. Now I just wish I had done it sooner.
You won't be disappointed.
