Thank you....the only problem is I am a clean freak. I can not stand a dirty truck, I guess I have my work cut out.

Your Deere is nice lookn' also....I have a question for you...how did you get that avtar to upload. I can not seem to get it small enough.

Thanks

I just took a picture of the tractor and resized it to 64x64 with lview. It says now that it could be 80x80, but I was sure it said smaller before. Are you having trouble with the file size (less than 15k) or the pixel size? At first when they changed the format nobody could get one to load but now they seem to be working.

Tom, yep....I am now a Volvo 780 pilot, but the good thing is she is all mine. I was getting tired of this airline industry and all its crAAp. This way if I do not have a job on Monday morning it is my own fault. :)

NAR, I was able to get the picture to a 80X80 but it still was giving me a file to big message.....I should try it again.

I have the Cummins ISX 530, the CATs and Detriots are not a option in this truck. I did not want to mess with the Volvo engine.....besides, there HP is not as high as the Cummins.:ro)

I haven't heard of that one before...Must be the same block as the ISX 600 was a few years ago??
At any rate, good looking rig!!

Thanks Tom :o It has a frig and sink....most important a lot of room. The cab has two airbags and four shocks. The front axle also has air-ride....it is taking getting used to, with the bags it goes not handle like the traditional tractor. With all that air..it is like riding on air. I know it does not have the classic look of the Pete 379 or my dream KW W-900, but there is also something to be said for her looks also.

So if you see my Skokie rig rolling down the road give me a call on the CB....or if your in the Duramax just blow the horn, I'll know your a fellow member.):h

It is there new line of engines. The EPA has made all three make big changes. Cleaner exhaust....but go figure the EPA changes lowered the MPG. :(

Rick, I'm a couple miles off the I96/I69 merge West of Lansing, out by that Flying J off Grand River. If you ever see a big old Victory Red crew cab with H2's ...that's me! ):h Let me know if you're ever planning to be up this way, maybe we could get together for dinner!

Thats one hell of an investment there! :ro) Congrats!

The Volvos also have an automatic of some degree.

No Wake; what made you choose trucking? Been think allot about that lately for myself. Getting A/Z license. Wife says no, still.

I second that question. Pilot to truck driver is a pretty good change of pace. Plus, I'm aware of the salaries that pilots make ($100,000 - $200,000) a year. Is driving a truck that lucrative? If you got no kids, and are able to take the wife with you, then it sounds like it could be a great life...get paid to see the country.

It is not a airline job....but I am also tired of the crAApy industry.

This is the thing....90% of the public has no idea about what really goes on in the airline industry. Everyone just wants cheap tickets...that is all they worry about. But god for bid a pilot group goes not strike or has a slow down. When I signed on to TWA I did it for life....you can not go from one airline to another and get the pay raise and a capt. seat. Everything is senority, when I go hired on at TWA I started out making $30,000 and at the bottom of the list. When AA took us over I lost my job with 8years seniority and just made the six figure mark. Ok I brushed the dirt off and got lucky, ATA hired me....guess what, I was back at $30,000 a year and at the bottom again. ATA filed ch11....I resigned before getting layed off again. My group I got hired with.....loss there job the 31st. 5 of them are X-TWA. So, when pilots are wanting to protect there future and contract this is why.

One more thing.....all those RJs(little jets...American Eagle, USAirways express) there starting pay......$18,000 a year.

So, is the trucking industry lucrative? NO! Is there a truck and driver shortage? A MAJOR shortage. Would I rather be home? YES! Would I rather be making my airline pay? Yes!

Get my point.

sorry for any spelling errors.....typing fast with they unload my frozen ribs.

Well being a pilot in those conditions sounds pretty crappy. Sucks they don't base on hours flown or something. Good luck with the trucking..

Not having the responsibility of passenger aircraft is a good piece of mind.

What about cargo? Not as much money, but.....

Also, if you get the chance, let me know what your opinion is of things. Lots of driver jobs around, here. But the wages, and industry conditions aren't that great, from what I have heard (Canadian) Plus, the border waits, fuel costs....

NoWake200

Actually air cargo (FedEx or UPS) would be great....the pay for those guys are the same as the major airlines. The other air cargo companies....kind of the run of the mill with pay and good equipment.

The trucking industry is short everything. But like you said the pay and working conditions are not that great. This is why I elected to run my own business, if I am going to bust my balls it is going to be for me, not someone with has never driven pocket. I have hope of future growth.

It is not easy...but at least there is work.

On the bright side....at least my Duramax with have lower miles on it now. :)

I didn't realize it was your own business.

Good luck. If you ever make it up this far (south western Ontario) let me know. Send a PM a day or two in advance.
