I have been running a pretty hot trans limping tune. I first started running it while in TN. I travel for work all across the country, and now I find myself In AZ. Now that you have the background, here is the question. The same tune in TN was makin around 1200-1250 @ WOT. It made about the same in dallas while i was there during the hollidays. I am now in Phoenix and I stabbed into the throttle, and it jumped to 1400+. Of course as soon as I saw it, I backed waaay off. Also, the same tune, while driving through NM in the mountains, began surging at low RPMs and when I went from park to reverse or drive. I figured altitude might have been the issue there. Any input?

Altitude WILL make the EGT's go up alot. Hear in Colorado springs(7000') my egt's were about 300+ deg higher than low elevation in Ca. Phoenix AZ is only 12-1500' elv though. You shouldnt start getting realy high egt's until over 4-5000' elv. I killed 3 turbos on my LLY as I learned the hard way. For some reason my LBZ seems to run alot cooler than the LLY did, it never goes past 1400'. The LLY would hit 1800+. Also if you are trying to run too much boost at high altitude EGT's will go up. I wouldn't think phoenix is high enough to be a problem though.

your operating at different elevations and different maps in your tunes
boost, fuel, timing is from higher altitude maps now

also your ambient intake air temp has increased. Hotter air in means hotter air out.

also i would bet your trans is slipping alot more now so you are going to be gettting higer egts and trans temps

Thanks for the replys. I figured out that the altitude is quite a bit different and have adjusted accordingly. It is still fairly cool here until spring. I havent noticed my trans behaving differently, probably because I always let off before 5th. Now that it's tax time and im on this side of the country, I might be making a trip to Inglewod to see Mike L.
