I took my baby in today and #2 and #8 injectors were ready to puke -:tfuel into the crankcase. No fuel was dumped though. They said I was close. They had to order all 8 and they will be in Monday or Tuesday. They thought I should get my truk back Wed or Thursday next week. Anything I should watch out for in the mean-time?

Just think about how nice and smooth it's gonna drive when you get it back. It's time in the shop well spent.:)

I also see you removed your muffler, do you still have the stock pipe ? how loud is it now , does the turbo whistle more out the back end ? and does it sound good or very barky ? i have the same truck and was thinking of losing the muffler to make her breath easier but don't want it sounding like a tractor with a straight pipe...

I have a "muffler delete" pipe on mine. (stock exhaust) It's not bad in the cab, but
when you load it down it's pretty loud. More turbo whine, more noise. Nice growl
at idle and light loading. In the cab with the windows up, it's not bad at all.
We have some big hills here, and the EGT was decreased by 50-100 degrees.

The symtoms were white/blue smoke on idle and acceleration. I did notice a decrease in MPG but thought that was due to winter fuel and cold fronts in place. They said I was close to dumping fuel in the crankcase. I am lucky I guess. Looks like now I will get secondary filtration in place soon to keep the new injectors in line.

My removal of my muffler is nice. It sounds like a truck should under acceleration. I LOVE the sound.

How do you know if you get the new version of injectors? The service guy said they were the new style but did not know how to tell. Any help would be great!

Good luck with getting your truck back that soon. I took mine to my dealer FIVE weeks ago for 8 injectors and they still have not received the backordered injectors from GM. Pathetic. Dealer tells me they are backordered nationwide. He did tell me 3-4 days when I first brought it in though. Makes the new F250 Super Dutys look better all of the time.

Eric,

Are these injectors "new" or "rebuilt" ?? If they are rebuilt, do you have any idea what they replace vs re-using on the injector? Would suck if they re-used the solonoid with some of the miles these trucks have on them when the injector fails. ie I bring in my truck with 45K miles and get a set of injectors that had 150K miles on them before being rebuilt and they re-used the electrical portion of the unit. I am assuming that they at least give us new internals and nozzels. Any info you could share with us on these replacement units would be helpful.

Thanks

Eric,
I had 2 injectors go bad about a month ago the Dealer only replaced the 2 that were bad when I asked the tech about replacing them all he told me that GM was advising NOT to relace all 8??? is this true or did I get hosed:eek:

Well 4 new ones are in and tomorrothe other 4 will be here so the job will be done. I feel like I am getting this done quickly compared to others on the site here. The only thing I am a worried about is that it is this mechanics 1st time to change out all 8 injectors. He has done only 1 on an LLY so far. It is probably no biggy though. Good guys to work with here.
