: 2wd trucks
072500hd6.6 01-05-2008, 01:18 AM ok guys i see alot of you guys are 4wd if i know a 4wd was better for raceing i would or got a 4wd :( but i got a 2wd so i guess ill make the best of it.
who here has a 2wd whay are your times
what rpm do you leave off the line
do you guys shift the trans or just leave it in D
malibu795 01-05-2008, 02:19 AM spring clamp the front part of the leaf spring. help plant the rear.
rpm leaving at GREATLY depend on the track prep. i have launched as hihg as 1900 with street tires and cut a 2.0X 60'
you can get into the 13s with treaded tires.
12s going to need slicks... some of them run 31x14r16 M&H slicks
i put the tranny in T/H and "D" let her eat
072500hd6.6 01-05-2008, 10:16 PM si i guess theres only to 2wd trucks on the forums
malibu795 01-05-2008, 10:18 PM si i guess theres only to 2wd trucks on the forums
there are several... most are strictly tow vehicles....
whitetrash21 01-05-2008, 10:32 PM who here has a 2wd whay are your times
me.... 16.9 was the lowest
what rpm do you leave off the line
1600 on stock 245's
do you guys shift the trans or just leave it in D
leave it in D, the ally's pretty smart...
truck was loaded with tools. just how it looks in the garage. ~9500 lbs.
tech guys made me pull the lumber and ladders off the top. bone stock, no programmers/chips/tuners of any sort.
saratoga 01-06-2008, 12:18 AM 15.97 was the first and only run I've ever made. Left at 1400 rpm in T/H, didn't stand on it until I was movng. Bone stock, 265's no programmer, no exhaust at that time.
072500hd6.6 01-06-2008, 01:04 AM i was hopeing better then a 15.97 i thought these trucks run hight 14s
whitetrash21 01-06-2008, 01:09 AM a reg cab long bed might with a good driver..... :confuzeld:
teamfutaba 01-06-2008, 07:22 AM Never ran it down the skid pad, but it sure will put a smile on your face...
tonydduramax 01-06-2008, 10:35 AM I have'nt had a chance to get to the track but on roll off the banks on level 6 showed around 14.5. and it was falling on it's face 1st to 2nd done some detuneing in that area feels better now but roads are to slick to try it.
tonydduramax 01-06-2008, 10:39 AM PPE on back order, with good tires, looking for low 13's to high 12's with 160 tune to 225 tune, then will look at getting trans

from what i have seen ... the mph will be roughly the same as the 4x4 counter part. but about ~1 slower in ET.... good luck getting into 12s with street tires
MAXLLY 01-06-2008, 09:49 PM Into the 12's with 2 wheel is gonna take some work or a ton of HP. IMHO/experience getting outta the hole with less than a 2.0 60' is tough i made several passes in 4 wheel and 2 wheel, it takes alot of seat time to balance boost at launch against wheel spin.
I suck at 2 wheel launches (no patience) average was around 2.1-2.5 60', mind you when a good converter locks up you'll have as much if not more traction problems than coming out of the hole.
The only timeslip i could find reflects the high side of it, 2.5 60', 9.6 1/8 at 79 and a 14.6 at 99 + mph.
Hope this helps.
Barkbuster 01-06-2008, 10:45 PM My good 60ft times were all around 2.31-2.35,my best was a 2.29,launching @ 1500 but not matting it till it rolled a few feet. Best et 15.59@86...
Grippery tires might give me higher boosted launches and lower 60ft. My speed thru the traps was 1-1.5 mph faster than the 4wd stockers around here but not fast enough to make up for there quicker 60ft times. They were always a tenth or more quicker
malibu795 01-06-2008, 10:47 PM my best was with 33x1250r16.5 at are 22psi... @ famoso on a hot day
2.08 60'
Quick Storm 01-06-2008, 11:24 PM i hope to make my truck pretty fast. will see what happens.
The Neens 01-06-2008, 11:51 PM si i guess theres only to 2wd trucks on the forums
Nope, 3...With my '05, I ran a 13.77 @ almost 100 with a soft 1.97 60' time with a built trans and slicks...Probably could have gone a little quicker, but never went back to the track...
Super Casper 01-07-2008, 06:23 PM I have an 05 2wd with CAI, 4in turbo back exhaust, Edge w/attitude, EGR
blocked,running on 20 in. street tires and pulled off a 14.62 @ 93 mph.
Usually have a 2.17- 2.25 sixty foot. I can only leave with about 5 # boost or it will smoke em. I got some extra wheels this week and now I'm looking for some drag radials and I will try that for fun.
1lowdiesel 01-07-2008, 07:20 PM before i did my suspension i went 14.5 just power pup, boost controller, intake and exhaust. but tons of wheel hop. haven't had a chance yet w/ the stack and 4link
Morse 01-09-2008, 03:31 PM My best ET on street tires has been 11.34 with around a 2.0 60'.. My best MPH has been 102.5 in the eighth, and 128.7 in the quarter. The truck will be on the Pinks show "Pass Time" in feb. It wasn't a great pass. I came out really easy, though it broke loose. I let out to pedal it just as it was shifting to 3rd, and it went directly to 4th. Ended up running 11.67 at 127 on normal 20'' street tires. I was hoping to be closer to a 10 at 130, but traction wasn't on my side. 2wd's are very tricky when you add power. Track prep will be the deciding factor on your times. I removed a couple leaf springs, added caltracs, and also rancho adjustable shocks.. When my truck had less power, my 60's were much better. Now they mostly seem to be 1.9's or worse. A set of 18'' nitto drag radials with everything else stock gave me a 1.76 60'. When you have the power to run faster than lower 12's, They have a hard time hooking. Up to that point, they worked well. The truck had a raceweight of 6,370 pounds when it put down it's best times.
66chevy 01-20-2008, 11:17 AM at the track i pulled off a 14.50 @96 mph, think it would have been better if i had no speed limiter
all i have is whats in my sig. left the line with 2psi boost (rpm?) and in drive with t/h on in SL level with acc. pump up to 110% and 5th gear turned up to 90%
66chevy 01-20-2008, 11:20 AM oh i deleted my garage by accident

04MAXLLY 01-23-2008, 05:28 PM I ran 14.00@95mph with a slipping tranny in 2wd. I have run 14.06@98mph before I hurt the trans. I am waiting to rebuild the Allisson and expect 13's with a drag radial. Goodluck
GuruMax 01-29-2008, 11:58 AM Ive ran 13.6 at 97mph with nitto 305/50/22 street tires and left with about 4-6#'s of boost. 60' times were never better than 2.0 - 2.1 on a 70 degree day. Raced somebody with somewhat the same setup but they had traction bars and stock tires, they ended up with a 60' time of 1.9 at best. Gonna try to get into the 12's with just street tires.

got the PPE on 90hp tune now for the winter had it on 225 for a week, too much rattle with the winter fuel and cold weather, can't wait for it to warm up so I can turn it up, the banks did detect some slippage before the ecm/tcm, good early warning at about 110 mph, got to get the trans jr installed
LWATSON 02-03-2008, 06:48 PM Never been to the track, but some friends and I have the 1/4 measured off on a country road. In 2wd I can get 103 mph. I have to leave at 1100 rpm's or I dont leave if you know what I mean.
