Is anyone using Amsoil lubricants in there new Duramax?? If so which ones and what drain intervals are you using. Is anyone using the dual filter set up with the pre filter?? Are you using the oil anaylsis program and how has it worked for you. I have a new truck and need some input from you guys.

Thanks, Deanboy

I put a Harvard bypass filter on mine when new. I only have 10K miles on it now and have only changed the factory oil filter for the first time last week. I am changing it over to Amsoil as I add oil. I have only added the one quart it took to replace the filter in all those miles. I will probably do an oil analysis at 15K. I am burning as much propane as diesel, so the oil looks like new. If you go with the bypass filter, let the oil analysis tell you when to change oil, otherwise, you will probably be wasting money by changing prematurely. Also, if you change the allison over to Amsoil, which I don't recommend to do for a long time (a friend that runs a tranny shop says that the factory stuff is at least semi-synthetic and really good stuff), make sure you use the Torque Drive fluid. The rear end already has synthetic in it. I'm not sure about the transfer case.

Have 20K on my 04; changed mineral oil at 500, 1500, 3K, and then at 5K went to Amsoil 15-40 (full syn). Change every 5K - many will say that's to soon and I should be using the oil analysis to schedule changes, they're probably right. However the cost of the analysis and time to get (take and receive) does not make sense (to me anyways) to follow that procedure. I've been paying about $4/qt and get it in the 2 1/2 gal contain bottle. Each change takes the full bottle (10qts) , have never been able to drain the 11qts as specified. Well that's what I do - do not have any technical reason for it. PS Mobil 1 now makes an full syn for diesels, look for the yellow cap, seen some at Walmart, however only in the qt container making the price in the upper $4 range.

I use Amsoil in every car and truck I own. Have been for years, every moving part in every vehicle, even my genoraters and compressors. the only thing right now that does'nt have it is my suncoast stage v, it's got Royal Purple synthetic because that's what the tranny guy put in, that will be changed soon to.

Which of the two diesel oils do you guys on the west coast desert use?? The
15-40 or the 5-30 ?? Amsoil says either one would be fine and that the 5-30 has a superior film strength over anybody else's 15-40 fossil oil and has better start up lubrication!! The D-Max manuel says 10-40. what do you guys say??
Thanks, Deanboy

At 7k I installed Amsoil dual remote filter setup, 1 large full flow and 1 huge bypass, and Amsoil 5w-30 HD Diesel oil.
A year later at 16.2k I pulled sample and sent off for anaylisis. Lab replied to chamge filters, top off oil and keep on trucking. Now at 19k, will send off sample again around 22-23k. IMO, need to use analysis because of soot on a diesel (if you go to extended drain intervals).

I have Amsoil bumper to bumper in my Dmax. As for tranny I use the Amsoil Torque Guard. Its the same as the Transyd but cheaper. Also even if the trans has a semi synthetic I would change it over to a full synthetic. No matter if you use Amsoil or Mobile you can't go wrong.

I use Amsoil and my dealer changes it every 10,000miles. I had it changed today, and he recommended the analysis kit, because the oil he drained still looked really good.

Greg;
What AMsoil should I use in my ZF6 and transfer case? How much will I need? How long will it last?
Thanks.

BTW, I sent the analysis back last weekend. If I have any questions I will call you.

I think you mean Torque-Drive! It is recommended for Allison TES-295 applications and as a replacement for TranSynd.
