I have found a very clean and straight, low mileage (82K) 2002 2500 Duramax that is reasonably priced. During the test drive it acted like it wasn't getting enough fuel. After looking thru the threads here in DP - THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I think that the injectors are bad. I told the seller and he is bringing it the Chevy dealer to check the injectors. Even though this is a very nice truck and I have been looking for months for a nice one, I don't want problems. Do y'all think that replacing the injectors will last. I don't expect miracles but don't know diesels too well. I love the truck and would like your advice.

After you replace the injectors for free with warranty, you should have no problems with the truck. Aside from buying more oil for the truck, it should be fine.

Grab the VIN from it and run it on here.

I had a similar problem with my truck (which I bought used with 46,000 miles on it back in April - now it has 70,000). The motor also was pinging pretty bad under load.

Turns out my fuel tanks had some junk in them that was clogging up the fuel filter. It was so bad that I couldn't get over 30 mph when getting on the freeway going up a 4% grade here in Oregon City while towing 27,000 lbs.

Long story short, I had the stock and auxillary tanks both flushed out (muriatic acid) and all my power came back and I can now get to at least 45 or 50 mph by the time I get to the top of the hill (this is the freeway onramp heading south on I-205 from Oregon City - it is an uphill onramp: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.365459,-122.599547&spn=0.008714,0.023518&t=h&z=16&om=1 crossing from right to left over the river.)

It could also be as minor as a fuel filter.

If the seller is going to get the injectors replaced BUY it youll love it.
