I went out pricing alarm systems the last few days, and man they are not cheep. Which I already knew, but I found a system with the same features as the viper and the compustar. Circuit city has a system for about $480.00 installed plus tax . I just never heard of CODE ALARMS before Has anyone here ever heard of them and are they any good.Thank for your hepl

Code Alarm has been around for a while, just not as popular as the viper systems, but it should be equally as good. I am planning to get their CA-640 model myself..

I had 2 of them in the past. I think they are great. Although, I have not had one since audiovox has bought them out. I would have gotten them again. But as cid said, they are not as popular. I couldn't find them out here. Although I didn't check Circuit City. I have 2 going on three viper, clifford, python, etc. Directed ele. inc. makes all of them. I am very pleased with them too.

Leatherman,

PM BlueOx03; he installs the compustars and could give you a much better idea of what works and what doesn't with the Duramax; the installer seems to be 98% of the equation of a good install including soldering the wires. Ox just did one for me a few weeks ago; if you want to tackle it yourself, pm Max Power for an astro-start.

I've had the Code Alarm system with remote start and security system for about 5 months. Only issues I've had to date are sensor adjustments. I had a Viper on my Avalanche and had the same issues. All in well I'm happy with it, just need to make another trip to CC.

One major plus is you have nationwide service capability should you have problems. Mama JJ was stuck up in Murpheesboro, TN at 10pm one night with the Avalanche. Do a search on the forum, Astro start has a good following on the DP. JJ :)

The CC by me has a good guy doing the installions, the main reason I wan them to do it is because I'm all over the place Allentown, Boston, Maryland. So if I have a problem with the alarm CC is everywhere.
