My plan is I can get away with a cold air intake, I can install a Magnaflow muffler to increase flow but still be quiet. The big thing is I want to run as much HP/TQ as I can, but it cant be visible, I need to be able to take it off when serviced, and it cant leave behind any evidence it was there.

I am leaning toward PPE Hot+2. I have HPTuners already for it and could use it but I dont want to blow the trany or something and not have my laptop to tune it back to stock.

I dont care about MPG or service things like "it will eventualy kill your trans".

Just as suggested. Keep it under a 100HP and drive sensible, You should be fine.

Hypertech, PPE Econ, Predator, Bullydog. All are mild good tuners.. I ran a Predator on my LBZ and loved it. For $300, not much better IMO..

ummmm, if you were handed a LBZ, all fuel, tires, maintenance, and everything was paid for would you drive it like an old lady? I'm not saying I want to completly abuse it or try and make it a 12 second 1/4 truck. Mostly its driven 120-150 highway miles daily. I just want the power so when I want to piss off a Mustang or Hemi owner I do it with style. Realisticaly I only pick 2-3 small races a month. How fast can I push this truck with the stock trans? At least a mid 13? 0-100mph may happen 6 times a year.

With a stock trans. About ~70-90HP is the general area. But you can still eaisly limp it with that much juice.. All depends on how often you beat it.

It's not your truck to beat on. It was given to you with the expect that you would have enough responsibility to treat it right.

You could build a 100 hp tune and fix all of the exhaust, intake and any other potential coding problems with hp tuners pretty easily. May be your cheapest option that won't burn the tranny up too quick.

Keep in mind that if something bad happens to the motor there may be the possibility of warantee denial though based on cylinder & piston wear marks per gm tsb. Also, I believe that there is a PID that lists number of warm ups since DTC's cleared that can be used as circumstantial evidence to deny a warantee claim. I have heard rumors that there are other more difficult ways to tell as well, but I haven't seen the details. Pretty easy to see how some ECM forensics could work against you.

Most dealers will let this fly for small repairs since there is not a high dollar amount involved particularily when it's not related to the engine, but once you have a big claim like a busted rod or piston or maybe even injectors I would be concerned.

I agree use hptuners. Buy a cheap laptop instead of a programmer & then you can build your own tunes.

I wouldnt even worry about putting a cold air intake or exhaust if it isnt your truck. They dont really do that much in my IMHO. I only got the exhaust for sound.

I agree. You can't really hide those anyways..

My sig will show you what it takes to run 13s if that is what your looking for. My Bullydog PUP was a good tuner for all around BUT on high (130?) was taking its toll on the converter!!!! 95 hp is really your "reliable" cutoff hp IMO.

If you were handed a 06 LBZ with no maintenance fuel ect. why would you care about the trans. 2-3 small race a month is more like 24-36 races per year. You want a bad ass hot rod but dont want mommy and daddy to find out. Free truck is cool with me but suck it up send some of your cash on it for a trans

It sounds like this guy will trade the truck in at some point and also wants to keep the warantee, so i can see why he wouldn't want to get too crazy. I would never drop any money into a leased vehicle.....

Tough position. I would probably use hp tuners to work something up and make it a sleeper.....
